TOWNSEND HOUSE Townsend Teller V O L U M E 1 , I S S U E 2 A P R I L 2 0 1 4 Easter Week 14TH– 20th APRIL This year we are celebrating Easter with an exciting week full of activities and entertainment. We will be baking Easter themed goodies for all the Mary Berry’s out there (and even those of us who just like cake!) There will also be an Easter bonnet making competition which will be open to everyone. On Thursday 17th April we have entertainer, Bob Smith, coming in, 3-4pm for which all friends and family are welcome to join us. The Easter bunny may even be stopping by to leave us an egg or two! We are also still welcoming donations for the Easter raffle! Greeting Cards appeal As we do enjoy a lot of crafts and arty activities here at Townsend, we are asking any residents, friends or relatives to donate any old and unwanted greeting cards. These will be used in many weird and wonderful ways, as and when we think of them! There is a labeled box in the foyer where you can drop them off! Thanks. TOWNSEND Grand National (5th)- Easter Week (14th– 20th)- We will be showing the afternoon’s racing in the Day Centre with a bit of friendly competition in the form of our sweepstake! All welcome! This year we will be celebrating the festival with a week of themed activities including Easter bonnets and greetings cards. TELLER ‘Easter Day’ (17th)We will be celebrating a bit prematurely this year but on the 17th we will have our Easter entertainment and much more! Sarah will now be bringing the books to everyone on regular rounds so that residents can choose their own if they would like anything to read. If you read a good one, let Sarah know and she can recommend it to other residents. We have a wide selection of audiobooks and books, all of which are in large print. Gardening Competition This year we have been entered into the annual OSJCT Gardening Competition, which is to be judged in July. There are a number of categories for the competition including Best Vegetable Garden, Best Hanging Basket Display and Best Dressed Scarecrow to name but a few! If you are interested in helping out or have any ideas for us there will be a meeting in the Day Centre on Tuesday 8th April at 11.30am. This role can encompass anything from sitting and reading a book with residents, playing bingo, teaching us a new skill or just coming in for a chat and a cuppa.
