MEN’S SOCCER: GAME MANAGEMENT PROTOCOL Time before start of game Action to be taken 60:00 minutes before kickoff The field is available for teams 15:00 minutes before kickoff Game rosters are exchanged 10:00 minutes before kickoff Captains meeting with officials; coin toss; teams clear the field 5:00 minutes before kickoff Introductions: Officials; Visiting coaches & team; Home coaches & team 2:00 minutes before kickoff National Anthem Halftime: Will be fifteen (15) minutes unless agreed upon by both coaches and the officials Overtime Procedure 5 minutes: Intermission after regulation time. 10 minutes: First overtime period (sudden victory). 2 minutes: Intermission. 10 minutes: Second overtime period (sudden victory). Doubleheaders The field should be available to teams sixty (60) minutes prior to game time for warm up. In the case of a doubleheader, a separate area should be designated as a warm up area sixty (60) minutes prior to the estimated game time. A minimum of thirty (30) minutes should be provided on the actual game field prior to the start of the second game, unless a shorter amount of time is agreed upon by both coaches. Visiting teams should be made aware of the warm up area’s location at least 48 hours in advance. Game Ball ‐Each program must have a minimum of five [5] Select Sport Brilliant Super game balls available for each Northeast‐10 Conference game. ‐Host institutions are required to provide a minimum of two [2] adults or four [4] youths to serve as ball chasers in order to ensure continuity of the game. Game Management Representative At each Conference men’s soccer contest, the home institution shall provide and identify to game officials and the competing teams, an athletics department designee on the premises as the person in charge of game management at that event. The game management representative should have access to means of electronic communication in order to promptly address any game management issues during the contest.
