Dear Parents,
Thank you to everyone who came to support the children at our Sports Days this week. We were blessed with
some fantastic weather and the children showed fantastic sportsmanship, well done to everyone who took part.
Congratulations to Yellow Team who won overall in KS1 and Tigers who won overall in KS2. Thank you to the
Friends of St Francis who ran the refreshments and uniform stall on both days.
Big congratulations to the Girls U11 Cricket Team who have retained the title of Isle of Wight Champions for the
5th year running. They will now go on to play in the National Finals in Bristol next week.
On Wednesday we held an information evening for parents about the forthcoming Academy transfer. I have put
the evening’s Powerpoint presentation on the Parent’s section of the school website for your information if you
were unable to attend. http://www.stfrancisventnor.co.uk/page/?title=Academy+Information&pid=186

Examples of this week’s winning sentences are:
On a hot summers day, the glimmering, sweltering
sun, burned so hot it was too hot to go outside!
Sweltering means you’re really hot because of the
sun.
This week’s word is Genre.
Please can all library books be returned to the
library so they can be checked back in before the
