Touch Football - Pacific School Games

PSG Touch Football Overview
School Sport Australia is very excited to have Touch Football
return for the 2017 Pacific School Games. Touch Football will
again have two competitions for both boys and girls, the age
groups being 12 years and Under and 15 years and Under.
With fantastic, warm weather in December and excellent Touch
Football fields at Park 24, Touch Footballers will experience elite
competition against teams from across Australia and the world.
As part of competing in the Pacific School Games, you will also get the chance to meet over
4,000 athletes from 11 different sports from around Australia and the world.
Accreditation
All registered athletes and team officials will receive an accreditation pass to use for the duration of
the games. An accreditation pass provide access to a great range of opportunities, including:

Complimentary transfer to and from the Airport to your accommodation*

Entry and participation in the spectacular Opening Ceremony on late afternoon
of Sunday 3rd December.

Access to the Games Village each evening which will have great
entertainment, food and interactive opportunities set in the beautiful Barr
Smith lawns at the University of Adelaide.

Transport to and from the Touch Football Fields each day, either by
PSG exclusive shuttle buses or public transport.

Complimentary Education tour on a day to be confirmed.

Medal ceremony, event pass, officiating, access to other
sports venues, welcome pack, sponsors offerings &
discounts and much more.
Accommodation & Transport
All PSG Accreditation passes will allow free access to public transport
throughout the games by showing your accreditation pass.
Shuttle buses will be available to take all players, officials and supporters to and from
Miles End where Netball, Track and Field and Touch Football will be played. There will be
three shuttles operating so a service from the Games Village at the University of Adelaide
will be every 10 – 15 minutes. Timetables will be available closer to the Games. Mile End is
also easily accessible by Public Transport, either by bus or train.
It is proposed that all Touch Football competitors be accommodated in the Adelaide CBD or North Adelaide.
Should you not book your accommodation through the PSG preferred accommodation providers, Rising Stars
Management Group, you should ensure your accommodation is in the recommended locations if you wish to
take advantage of the free transport to and from the Touch Football fields.
Catering

A range of discount dinner options will be available near your accommodation as well as in the Central Business
District.

All players and officials are encouraged to go to the Games Village for at least one evening where there will be a
chance to meet other athletes, enjoy some great food and a range of interactive opportunities.

Breakfast can be ordered through your accommodation.
Competition
Touch Football will have two age groups, 12 years and under and 15 years and under. Both age groups will have a boys

and girls competition. Each team will play their first match on Sunday 3 December and last match on Saturday the 9
December.
There will also be one day that is dedicated to all players having a rest day and attending the educational
excursion. The educational excursion is a significant component to all School Sport Australia National
Championships. Educational excursions are provided for students to gain a worthwhile and meaningful
experience with a relevant focus on social, cultural, historical and educational outcomes. The education
experience is included in your accreditation fee.

Friday 1 and Saturday 2 of December are dedicated days for team arrival and training sessions

if required. Each team will play one game on Sunday 3 December before attending the Pacific
School Games Opening Ceremony in the afternoon.
Both the 12 and 15 years and under competitions will be a round robin competition where
all teams will play each other at least once. All teams will participate in finals matches
regardless of where they finish on the ladder.
At the conclusion of the last match, all teams will participate in the Closing Ceremony.
At the Closing Ceremony all teams will be recognised for their performance over the

week while the top three teams will be presented medals. Teams that play off for 5

and 6 will also receive medals for ‘The Plate’ in the 15 years and under age group.

*Transfer is subject to arriving with and staying with the whole team.
School Sports Australia will attempt to assist with transfers if travelling
and/or staying separately but there may be an additional fee.
