Striking
with an
implement
Explore the striking action using a
variety of implements includiing bats,
hockey sticks, noodles, racquet.
Attempt to strike an object while
stationary and while moving.
Be able to strike an object with
control.
Key Characteristics
Striking with an implement (bat, stick or
racquet)
 grip depends on the implement
 eye on the ball
 feet spread apart and knees fl exed
 weight shifts from back to front
 extend arms
 follow through in the direction of the
swing
Trapping/blocking with an implement (ie
hockey stick):
 move body directly in the path of the
ball
 wide base of support
 use a large surface for trap/block,
 keep eyes on the ball















Striking
with a
hand/s
Explore different ways the hands can
strike an object.
Learn and be able to perform the basic
volleying and hand dribbling (ie
bouncing) action to themselves and
others.
Volleying (digging)
 keep eyes on the ball
 move in line with the ball
 bend the knees
 strike the ball by extending the arms
and legs
 striking surface should be flat
 follow through in the direction the ball
is to go









