Alejandro “Alex” Thurman Olivas
Alejandro “Alex” Thurman Olivas, age 16, of Lamont, Oklahoma passed away on
Sunday, November 25, 2012 at his residence in Oklahoma. He was born in Odessa,
Texas on April 9, 1996 to Ildefonso Olivas and Michelle Thurman. Alex was a
student at Deer Creek Lamont High School.
Alex was very athletic. He enjoyed football, basketball, fishing and video games. He
was very mature for his age and very loving. He was great with kids. He read to preK kids at the elementary school. Alex had many, many friends. He was a joker, very
calm and mellow but energetic and would argue with a fence post (which made him
a great debater). Alex loved his family and friends and they loved him in return. He
will be missed.

Lamont, Oklahoma and Michelle Thurman of Granbury; maternal grandparent: Linda
Thurman of Granbury, Texas; paternal grandparents: Pedro and Manuela Olivas of

Olivas of Granbury, Texas; sisters: Breann Olivas of Waco, Texas and
Amber Mariah Thi Le of Granbury, Texas; paternal aunts: Mireya Fierro, Alicia
Olivas, Vivianna Olivas all of Odessa; paternal uncle: Pedro Olivas, Jr. of Odessa;
maternal aunts: Barbara Wood of Arlington, Texas, Shawna Walker of College
Station, Texas, Tina Flanigan of Madisonville, Texas; paternal uncle: Matthew
Thurman of Granbury, Texas; and numerous cousins.
Rosary will be 7:00pm, Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Acres West Funeral
Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10:00 am, Friday, November 30, 2012 at Holy
Redeemer Catholic Church (2633 Conover Ave, Odessa, TX 79763), officiated by
Father Arturo Pestin. Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden in Ector County
Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Parish Hall of Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church immediately following the graveside service. Arrangements are
entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd. Odessa, TX
