Poppy poppy what do you say?
Wear me on Remembrance
Day.
Mr Canning took a very
special
assembly
this
morning . He reminded
everyone of the importance
of the poppy and why we
should spend a little time
remembering the brave
people who gave their lives
to keep us all safe.
Poppy, poppy what do you tell?
Many soldiers in battle fell.
Poppy, poppy what should we
know?
That peace on earth should

National Gallery Visit Year 2
2B took a trip to the National Portrait
Gallery this week to look at
two
famous ladies called Mary Seacole and
Florence Nightingale.
Both of these inspirational women were
assisting soldiers during the Crimean
War on the front line. Florence Nightingale was treating
wounded soldiers as well as reporting to the Government on
the horrific conditions. Mary Seacole was assisting the
soldiers by providing canteens and food supplies, trying to
raise the morale of the men fighting the war.
We were very proud of our year 2 class, as the National
Portrait Gallery contacted Mr Canning to praise their
behaviour. Well done 2B , what marvellous ambassadors for
our school.

Return to School
Attendance Stars
The girls’ football team played their first league match of
the season against Hartley School. Straight from the kick
off Tollgate dominated the game but we just couldn’t
score a goal due to an inspiring performance from
Hartley’s goalkeeper. Just before half time, against the
run of play Hartley took the lead. Tollgate came out for
the second half with more determination and continued to
pressurise the Hartley defence. Shavnam’s work rate paid
off as she got the equaliser. Shadia then took a long
range shot which deceived the goalkeeper and put us 2-1
ahead. Shavnam then turned provider with an excellent
cross for Sharon who calmly took the ball round the
goalkeeper to make the final score 3-1. Well done to all
the girls that played.

We are asking for children to come to
school dressed as their favourite Hero. It can be a
superhero or just someone who is a hero to them from
Harry Potter to a Tellytubby, their grandparent, or
favourite TV /Film /Book character. If you wish to send in
a donation for the charity , which helps so many needy
projects across the UK, we would be grateful.
We will also be holding a cake sale at the end
of the school day in the front playground.
Last year we raised £450 please help us set a new Target.
Any donations for the cake sale please take to the Family Centre on
