HIGHLIGHT SHEET
August 10-14, 2015
Welcome to KidVENTURE’S Camp Sport ‘N Splash (CSNS) 2015. Each day is filled with science
activities/environmental education, sports fundamentals, large group games, play time and daily afternoon swim
at SLO Swim Center (Camper should have basic swim skills). Camp activities include a local hike, sports, art, music
and movement, guest speakers, games and more.
IMPORTANT NOTE: *Campers will spend the morning at Meadow Park and will use the
SLO City Bus service to travel to SLO Swim Center (times will vary-see below) and will
end the day at Johnson Park.
Monday (Aug. 10): Today at 10:30 a.m., Campers will be visited by our local Paragon Brazilia Jiu-Jitsu & Elite Muay Thai
Academy instructors. Other activities include: bag painting, chromatography and a soccer skill building. This afternoon all
campers will head to the SLO Swim Center (see trip information below).
Tuesday (Aug. 11): Morning activities include: water based science activity, Q-tip Art, squirt gun tag, and fundamentals of
the hot new game of Pickle Ball. At 10:30 a.m. Campers will be going on a hike/scavenger hunt up nearby South Hills led
by SLO City Rangers. This afternoon all campers will head to the SLO Swim Center (see trip information below).
Wednesday (Aug 12): Campers will be visited by the Central Coast Salmon Enhancement Organization. Other activities
include: sink or float science activity, cotton ball painting, ice experimentation, and volleyball skill building. This afternoon
all campers will head to the SLO Swim Center (see trip information below).
Thursday (Aug 13) Morning activities include: salinity science experiment, drip-drip-drop, and basketball skill building.
Campers will also be given a special tour of the Meadow Park Community Garden. This afternoon all campers will head to
the SLO Swim Center (see trip information below).
Friday (Aug 14): Morning activities include: water drops and rain clouds science activity, friendship bracelets, clamming for
marbles, firework painting and a giant game of kickball with all Campers and Counselors. Campers are in for a treat at
11:00 a.m. when local Academy of Dance Studio comes to perform live. This afternoon all campers will head to the SLO
Swim Center (see trip information below).
DAILY POOL TRIP REMINDERS:
• Camper Groups leave Camp at different times. The Batters (older group) leave Meadow Park at 12:00 p.m. and
eat lunch at Sinsheimer Park. The Catchers (younger group) eat lunch and then leave Meadow Park at 1:00 p.m.
• All Campers swim from 1:45 – 4 p.m. and will not return to Camp.
• Campers must be picked up at Johnson Park after 4:30 (or at pool before 4 p.m.); Campers will not be released
between the 4-4:30 p.m. transitional time for the safety of the group.
• Please bring to all swim trips: blue camp shirt, closed-toe shoes, swimsuit, sunscreen, towel, bag to carry everything
(hat, sunglasses, water are also recommended).
• It is your responsibility to sign Camper up for the areas in which they can swim at the pool.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
• Campers will be broken into 2 age-based groups: Older Group: Batters and Younger Group: Catchers. Ask Camp
Director which group your Camper is in.
• Please send Camper each day with swim gear, closed toe shoes, sack lunch, and blue camp shirt.
• There are no KidVENTURE Camps the week of August 17-21; see you on August 24 at the school sites.
