Anne Frank and Her Relationship with the Other Members of the Annexe. By Alex Athaas In Anne Frank: Diary Of A Young Girl the characters are only family friends and the Van Daans'. The only problem i n the book is these characters were real and we only have a one sided view of what the characters we re like but this essay will explain to you what Anne thought of them as she wrote the diary. Anne Frank's older sister Margot, is sixteen years old when Anne gets her diary. Margot always quiet and eager to please adults, often fights with Anne. The parents tell Anne that Margot is a model for her . It is Margot who is first called up by the Gestapo to go into work camp. This call makes Franks to go into hiding ten days earlier than they had planned. Margot eventually gets closer to Anne as she writes. Then Peter Van Daan messes up their relationship. Anne makes Margot out to be a loner from far away to put it in such a way and a cheery person if you get close. Anne's mom comes from a wealt hy family and has spent most of her life in Germany. According to Anne her mothering skills are a di sappointment to Anne, who would prefer her to be more affectionate and accepting. Mostly because she treats her children like friends and at Anne's age she needs a mother. Anne and her mother often fi ght and disagree which paints a bad picture of Mrs. Frank. It makes you think of what a bad mother s he was. Otto Frank comes from a wealthy family and spent most of his life in Germany as well. When h e made arrangements for his family to go into hiding in the building in which he was once employed, Anne looked up to how strong and smart he was. He is Anne's favorite relative and affectionately she calls him 'Pim', and considers him her "knight in shining amour" in the Annexe. Anne and Otto were always close and it seems that Anne wanted to get to close to him. When Anne falls in love (without admitting it) with Peter Van Daan, 'Pim' gets considerably frustrated and creates some tension betwe en the Pim and Anne, and they eventually get closer again. The Van Daans, the other inhabitants of the Annexe, did not seem to be on Anne's good side. Mr. Van Daan a business associate of Mr. Frank's , formerly in the meat and sausage business, arranged for his family to live with the Franks in the Annexe of Mr. Franks former work place. This family is the source Anne upset, Anne cannot relate to the Van Daans and thinks they are all annoying until she gets to know the quiet Peter. Anne consider s him (Mr. Van Daan) to be a 'know it all' and doesn't like him. Mrs. Van Daan, in Anne's eyes, is a complete ditz and a floozy she does not like the fact that when they entered the Annexe that she di d absolutely nothing to help unpack and that she was 'hitting' on 'Pim'. She turns out to be the mos t annoying member of the Annexe. Peter Van Daan is almost sixteen when he comes to live in the Annex e. Shy, awkward, he does not get Anne's attention until they have been living in the annex for almos t two years. Then they begin a deep friendship that leads to some physical intimacy. Anne is at firs t, head over heels in love with him, then she realizes that although he is a nice young man, he lack s character. He is the quiet shy type as Anne gets to bring him out of his shell he becomes more tal kative and socially a better person. Mr. Dussel the elderly dentist, who is invited to the Annexe t o live with the Franks, stays in Anne's room and drives her crazy with his nighttime habits. When he first comes Anne enjoys his lightheartedness. However later on Anne begins to believe he is a perfe ctionist who is a hard teacher and wants to keep everyone in line. Miep assists the Annexe residents by providing them with food, clothing, books, and companionship. She is bright and cheerful she is kind and assists them with the things they need and brings them gifts on holidays. Along with Elli, these are the two women Anne has as role models and she thinks very highly of them, because they tre at her like a daughter. Anne has many different views on the people she lived with, but if there is one thing that one can learn from her judgment of characters, is that one is a lot like her in the sense they may become utterly frustrated with people that are always around them and try to be kind and caring. It is the dark side being helped but on the other hand the others probably felt the same way about each other including Anne. Mind you everyone was in a very tight space for two years and that is two years to find weakness and flaws and naturally that is what came out from everyone. ann e frank relationship with other members annexe alex athaas anne frank diary young girl characters on ly family friends daans only problem book these characters were real only have sided view what chara cters were like this essay will explain what anne thought them wrote diary frank older sister margot sixteen years when gets diary margot always quiet eager please adults often fights with parents tel l that margot model first called gestapo into work camp this call makes franks into hiding days earl ier than they planned eventually gets closer writes then peter daan messes their relationship makes loner from away such cheery person close comes from wealthy family spent most life germany according mothering skills disappointment would prefer more affectionate accepting mostly because treats chil dren like friends needs mother mother often fight disagree which paints picture makes think what mot her otto comes from wealthy family spent most life germany well when made arrangements into hiding b uilding which once employed looked strong smart favorite relative affectionately calls considers kni ght shining amour annexe otto were always close seems that wanted close when falls love without admi tting with peter daan gets considerably frustrated creates some tension between they eventually clos er again daans other inhabitants annexe seem good side daan business associate formerly meat sausage business arranged live franks franks former work place this source upset cannot relate daans thinks they annoying until know quiet peter considers know doesn like eyes complete ditz floozy does fact that entered absolutely nothing help unpack hitting turns most annoying member almost sixteen comes live awkward does attention until have been living annex almost years then begin deep friendship lea ds some physical intimacy first head over heels love then realizes although nice young lacks charact er quiet type bring shell becomes more talkative socially better person dussel elderly dentist invit ed live stays room drives crazy nighttime habits first enjoys lightheartedness however later begins believe perfectionist hard teacher wants keep everyone line miep assists residents providing them fo od clothing books companionship bright cheerful kind assists them things need brings gifts holidays along elli these women role models thinks very highly because treat daughter many different views pe ople lived there thing learn judgment sense become utterly frustrated people always around kind cari ng dark side being helped other hand others probably felt same about each including mind everyone ve ry tight space years find weakness flaws naturally came everyoneEssay, essays, termpaper, term paper , termpapers, term papers, book reports, study, college, thesis, dessertation, test answers, free re search, book research, study help, download essay, download term papers
