LIHASULA FINNSHEEP SPERM STATION is the first officially allowed ram sperm station in
Finland.
11 different white ram lines represent the highest quality with combining performance data.
Some of these ram lines are from very rare pedigree.
Our team can also provide consultation in nutrition, reproduction and husbandry of the finnsheep.
TOP FINNSHEEP BREEDING
Lihasula started with the breeding of the white Finnsheep in 1992. We have been ranked among the
three best farms almost every year since then. The mean lamb quantity per ewe was 2,9 and the
average six- week weight was 17,9 kg per lamb in the 2008. We believe that the Finnsheep is the
most fertile sheep race in the world.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE RAM SPERMA
The sperm collection takes place in Lihasula premises. It is supervised by the town vet and the collection
plus freezing is done by of veterinarian with the help of Matti Koivisto and another assistant person.
The semen is packed in 0,25 Cassou straws and identification on the straws is ink-jet straw printed:
breed, colour , animal ID, name of the ram, date
Semen is collected and diluted in two extenders, equilibrated in two temperatures and centrifuged.
Straws are filled, sealed, and placed on racks and placed in a nitrogen vapour freezer minutes. After
that straws are put in liquid nitrogen, collected in goblets ant put in liquid nitrogen container.
