T — Coal Tar
G — Fiberglass Innerwrap
F — Coated Glass Felt or Mineral Felt
O — Fiberglass Outerwrap
S — Seal Coat
3 — Fully-Plasticized Coat Tar
(Ordered by penetration which is dictated by
ambient temperature)
4 — High temperature service coal tar
Example: Full-plasticized coal tar enamel wrapped with fiberglass, felt, and kraft - the symbol
would be TGF - 3.
