Dear Parents:
Today is International Mother Language Day!
This day is observed throughout the world as a way of promoting linguistic and cultural diversity
in our classrooms. We are very proud of our language diversity at Neely, and we celebrate this day
every year by having students come to the office during announcements and share something in
their native language. In addition the students participate in classroom activities that enhance

I am so proud of our students for creating wonderful and caring
Valentine cards last week. The cards went to Wellsprings Nursing/
Medical/Therapy Center, Mrs. Teresa Billingsley who has been out sick
since November, and Aiden Galaska.
The recipients were all so surprised, thankful, and happy to get their
Valentine cards. It was wonderful to see Aiden smile, laugh and
respond as he looked at his cards. Miss Teresa loved her cards and kept
saying how much she misses all the Neely kids.
Battle of the Book Reminder: The 3rd Battle is on WEDNESDAY,
MARCH 5TH. 6th Grade will battle at 9AM and 5th Grade will be
at 10AM.
Regional Spelling Bee: Adam Aseret is competing today (Friday)
at 10:00 AM at Queen Creek Performing Arts Center.

PE News...
We had our Jump Rope for Heart Event this
week. The students did loads of jumping and
played Risk Factor Tag. Ask them what "OH,
DISH" stands for!
So far we have raised $2288 for the American
Heart Association!
Thank you,
Mrs. Pletzer

PTO NEWS
Donations for the SPRING CARNIVAL continue to come in. Today we'd like to thank Brio Tuscan Grill for their contribution. The PTO was able to approve $15,000 to be used for classroom needs. This will go toward printers, science curriculum, PE equipment, sound system upgrades, and more. Many things have been on teachers' wish lists for a couple of years. We are excited to make these purchases, and thank all the parents who have helped make this a successful year. News from Student Council:
Is your child in need of pencils, pens, lead, highlighters, or erasers??? Neely's school store is now open every morning from
8:15 to 8:30. Items are all $1 or less.
BENCH THE BAG Contest is underway and will run from Feb. 3rd until March 31st. Acceptable materials include:
*grocery bags
*dry cleaning bags
*sandwich bags
*bread bags
*department store bags
*shrink wrap (ex. wrap around cases of water bottles)
Last week the town of Gilbert collected another 1130 lbs. of plastic bags collected from local schools. Help Neely keep these
materials out of the landfills and potentially earn a bench made from the recycled plastic bags.
