In their final season in Class 3A, the Lady Rebels lost to Evansville Memorial 69-59 in the 2011 Semi-State in a game played at Bedford North Lawrence. The Lady Rebels are 3-4 alltime in the semi-state round and 0-2 in games where the winner advanced to play for the state title. Roncalli’s 24 wins are tied for second-most in program history. The 1994-95 team also went 24-3. The 1985-86 team holds the program record for most wins with 25. That team went 25-5 and lost 50-36 in the 1986 Final Four to Fort Wayne Northrop. Penn (19-5) Bold teams still alive Semi-State Schedule Saturday, February 23 Roncalli at Bedford North Lawrence FW South at Warsaw Both games tip at 6:30 p.m. The winners of tonight’s semi-state games advance to next Saturday’s Class 4A Championship Game. The game will be played at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute and will tip at 8:00 p.m. Roncalli captured the sixth regional title in program history with a 42-32 win last Saturday night over Mooresville at Decatur Central. The Lady Rebels outscored Mooresville 26-16 in the second half, using a combination of hot shooting and stingy defense. The game turned on a 12-3 run spanning the final two minutes of the third quarter and the first four minutes of the fourth quarter. Roncalli hit 9 of 13 shots from the floor in the second half and limited the Pioneers to .304 (7-23) second-half shooting. For the game, the Lady Rebels outscored Mooresville 13-3 from the foul line. Lindsey Corsaro led all scorers with 15 points and grabbed a team-leading five rebounds, while Bridget Perry added 11 points About Bedford North Lawrence (26-0, 23-3 last year) The Stars are 26-0 and ranked number two in the Class 4A state poll. Across all classes, Bedford North Lawrence is the only remaining undefeated team in the state. Over the last two seasons, the Stars are 49-3, with two of the losses coming to Columbus North last season. Columbus North is the only team to defeat Bedford North Lawrence at home over the last two seasons, as the Stars have compiled a 27-2 record on their home court since November of 2011. Roncalli vs. Bedford North Lawrence Tonight’s game is the first-ever postseason meeting between Roncalli and Bedford North Lawrence. The teams met in the regular season four times between 1999-00 and 2002-03 and split those four games. The Lady Rebels won once at BNL -- a 59-57 victory on December 29, 2001. Noteworthy… Been Here Before since the mid 1980s. This year’s team is the sixth team in program history to win at least 20 games in a season and the current win total of 24 is tied for the second-most in program history. Tonight is the 28th game of the season, which is the second-most games played in a season. The 1985-86 team played 30 games and compiled a 25-5 record. Four of the Lady Rebels’ five starters appeared in Roncalli’s 2011 Semi-State game at Bedford North Lawrence. Bridget Perry, Sam Bolen, Elizabeth Bowers and Kellie Kirkhoff combined for 38 of Roncalli’s 59 points in that game, which Roncalli led by three with 3:50 left. Those four players, along with freshman Lindsey Corsaro, have made a combined 58 postsea- Second Half Team Over their last three second halves son appearances.
