Service Hatches What are Service Hatches? • Installed in floor of vehicle (bus/train etc.) • The hatch can be opened in order to access service areas in the undercarriage over the gear box and engine. • Opening is performed by fast quarter twist bolts. • Industrially manufactured fully insulated item. What are the Requirements? • Withstand weight of passengers standing/walking • Insulate heat and noise from below • Withstand heat, oils, water, wear • Be easy to access, open and close • Safety is always a critical requirement What is Polyrit’s Service Hatch? • The Frame and Hatch Cover are made in Rigid P.U. • Thermal insulating phenol sheet attached in mold (no gluing involved) • Special sound insulating PU composite is molded between the two layers. • The adhesion between the three materials is inseparable this is as a result of combining all parts within molding steps. Safety screws are added in any case to insure long life lasting. • Quick-locks for closing (flat-head or 5/16” square-head) • The frame and hatch are flat with the floor. Polyrit’s Design (patent pending) Design features: 1. Locking mechanism 2. Top panel - reinforced PU 3. PU frame in bus floor 4. Closing bracket 5. Sealing Rubber “band” 6. In-molded sound insulating PU Polyrit’s Design (patent pending) Advantages: 1. Flush fit between hatch and frame/floor 2. ¼ turn locking mechanism 3. Rubber band for sealing against gas penetration 4. Strong top panel 5. Sound insulation in-molded 100% adhesion What are The Advantages of Polyrit’s Hatch? • Durable, strong and will not need servicing; no layers to fall apart • Sound insulation better - 30 dB reduction. (current requirements are 25 dB according to DIN 52215) • Easy to open/close – the bolts need only ¼ turn • Heat and water resistant • Flat to floor frame =no lip =no tripping hazard and clean line of floor surface • No glued layers = easy manufacturing = LOWER COST (compared to equivalent)
