Who wants to be a millionaire??? Game Project

Who wants to be a millionaire???
Game Project
Have you ever considered creating your own game? As you played classics like Monopoly, Battleship,
and Sorry, have you thought of ways to make the game more fun and relevant? Well …
NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!
Game Project Instructions
You will work with a partner to invent an original board game or card game. The game will be graded
according to the rubric on the next page. Please refer to the rubric, and use it as a checklist to ensure
you have met all project criteria. Your classmates will have an opportunity to play your game. They will
also rate/grade your game. You will have the same opportunity to rate/grade theirs. Below are general
guidelines to keep in mind as you work on your project:
1. Your team must create a company name. It is a good idea to design a LOGO for your company
name. The company name must be original. Make it a good one!
2. You must design and create a container for your game. This can be a box, cylindrical tube, or any
other type of container. It must be decorated to look like a professionally manufactured game.
3. Your game’s title must be unique. Make it catchy! Grab people’s attention, so they want to pick
up your game and play it. They should be excited to try it out.
4. Your game must be original. It is acceptable to base your ideas on your experience with various
games, but you may not copy anyone else’s work. This means you may not recreate games, like
Monopoly, Yu-Gi-Oh!, or Battleship, and simply give them a different name or redesign certain
components. That is illegal!
5. Instructions must be TYPED, clear, and complete sentences. These directions are the only way
others will know how to play your game. You will be busy playing others’ games, so you won’t
be able to “explain” your game to anyone! If your classmates are unable to play your game
because the instructions are missing or unclear, you will not receive credit for this, in
accordance with the rubric. Be sure to include game set up, movement instructions, how you
know when someone wins, etc. (Dual Language students must provide complete instructions in
English and Spanish.)
6. Game pieces should be homemade. They must be school appropriate (just like every other
aspect of this project)!! All parts of your game must appear to have been professionally
manufactured. No sharp or dangerous objects are allowed. (If your game presents a choking
hazard for young children, it must be noted on the container!)
7. THEME:
 7th Grade – Games must reflect the period of Texas history between the Fredonian Rebellion
(Road to Revolution) and Republic of Texas. This means it must be all about Texas (people,
places, events) from 1825 to 1845. You do not need to cover the entire 20-year period. For
example, you may focus on just one event … as long as it is a major part of Texas history and
occurred between 1825 and 1845.
 6th Grade – Games must reflect Greek or Roman mythology. You may combine both, but be
sure you know the difference between them. For example, Neptune and Poseidon represent
the same god, but one is Roman and the other Greek.
8. Your game must be appropriate for people your age. It cannot be TOO easy, like Candyland.
Your classmates might get bored too quickly. MAKE THE GAME FUN!!! (Age appropriateness
must be labeled on your container.)
9. The game must be MULTI-PLAYER! It is not Solitaire.
