For domestic and commercial applications for sun shade over patio’s, sun decks, shop fronts and restaurants. Ideal over
domestic sun decks with sliding or bifolding doors. This awning may be installed directly onto the building face or top fixed
under overhanging eaves with the multi-fit universal installation brackets.
Operation
By way of gearbox and crank handle. The gearbox has a ration of 9:1 which is a low ratio for easy winding.
By automation. The electric motor fits inside the roller tube and can be operated by remote control (hand held remote or
remote wall switch) or by hand wired wall switch.
The awning can be stopped at any position or will automatically stop when it reaches outer or inner limits. Wind sensors and
other automatic controls are also available.
Folding Arm: Component Specifications
Roller Tube
Has a diameter of 78mm with a wall thickness of 1.2mm. Shall be rigidly lock seamed and roll formed to incorporate a key way
in the tube profile. Is manufactured from galvanised steel.

Gearbox
Has a 9:1 ratio for ease of use operated by means of a crank handle. Colours white and cream.
Crank Handle
Manufactured from zinc coated steel and available in lengths of 1000mm, 1200mm, 1400mm, and 2000mm.
Front Bar
Manufactured from extruded aluminium finished in powder coated white or cream (refer to diagram for shape) Measures
70mm high + 45mm deep.
Front Bar End Caps
Are extruded aluminium powder coated white or cream.
Lateral Arms
Manufactured from extruded aluminium measuring 50 x 30mm section. Tension is by way of PVC coated stainless cables
attached to tension springs (all concealed within the arms). Colours are white and cream. Sizes = 1500, 2000, 2500 and
3000mm Projection. Silver arms are available at a 25% surcharge.
Pitch Control
These arms all have pitch control which allows the awning to be lowered from 5º of slope to 35º of slope. This feature is useful
in winter months where the sun is lower in the sky.
Back Bar
The roller tube and arms are attached to this bar. It measures 40 x 40 x 2mm and is galvanised steel powder coated white or
cream. The awning is held into the installation bracket by this bar.

Folding Arm: Measuring Guidelines
All external products should be measured from the outside. The LEFT side from inside becomes the RIGHT side from outside.
Solshade sunscreen fabrics.
Folding Arm Awnings
This is PVC coated polyester exterior sunscreen and has a 10% openness factor. Fabric width 2340mm.
Folding arm awnings require strong fixing points to attach the installation brackets and should not be fitted to brick, brick
veneer or soft unstable timber. Not suitable for polystyrene homes.
Sewing Thread
Most applications call for on face mounting. This means above the window or doors on the surrounding surface area.
When measuring for face mounting the following information is required.
When measuring for Robusta awnings the following information is required
Tenara thread is used and is guaranteed to last the life of the fabric. Is chemical resistant and UV resistant.
Valance
Can be straight or Scalloped and measures 135mm.

PROJECTION
Folding arm awnings are available in four projection sizes. These are 1500mm, 2000mm, 2500mm and 3000mm. All awnings
may be stopped at any point before reaching the full projection. Please consult the size limitation chart when measuring for
smaller width awnings as minimum widths apply for different sized arms.
Note: The clear wall space required above the opening to fit a folding arm awning is:

To provide adequate sun control a folding arm awning should overlap the window or door by a minimum of 200mm each side.
This is often extended to 400-500mm on each side of the opening depending on the overall size of the awning and the space
available.

Installation Brackets
The folding arm installation brackets will fit anywhere along the width of the awning, eliminating the need to measure exactly
to the timber studs. The end brackets may be located up to 500mm in from the end of the awning and any number of brackets
may be used. This is decided at the time of installation but a guide is one bracket for every metre width of awning, ie. 3000mm
wide awning requires 3 brackets.

This will send the awning out and in once a day at a specific time.
Installation Brackets
Note:- With a wind sensor only the sensor will send the awning in but will need to be manually switched to send the

- With a sun and wind sensor the wind sensor will send the awning in and the Sun sensor will send the
awning out.

The headbox is manufactured 100mm wider than the awning to allow for the gearbox and crank handle winding.
