WIZOUK takes great pleasure
in welcoming you to our new offices.
For over 90 years WIZO has responded
directly to the needs of Israel’s most
disadvantaged citizens. WIZO in the UK
has been a key partner in raising funds
to support our leading social welfare
and educational projects.
We have successfully raised funds
through dinners, tours, lunches, coffee
mornings, bridge sessions and other
events.
Events such as inspiring speakers,
fashion shows, choirs and book clubs
just to name a few, all raise money for
WIZO in Israel.

for a better future
Rebecca Sieff and Vera Weizmann made
a fact-finding trip to Palestine in 1919
and were shocked by the conditions in
which women and their families were
living and working. They returned fired
up with plans to provide social and
welfare services, training in agriculture
and domestic science. This focus on
caring for people and helping them to
achieve a better life, rather than building
infrastructure, remains a guiding
principle of our movement today.
Israel today...
Despite Israel being a highly urbanized
western country, poverty still exists.
WIZO’s goals:
• To provide for the welfare of infants,
children, youth, women and the elderly.
• To advance the status of women in
Israel.
• To strengthen the bond between
World Jewry and the State of Israel
• To support the absorption of new
immigrants.

working together for over 90 years
Dear Friends
By the time that you read this newsletter, WIZOUK will be unpacked
and working in our new modern office. We have left our Gloucester
Place home with thousands of cherished and lasting happy
memories of our founding leaders and hundreds of committed
volunteers.
However, we are a modern Jewish women’s movement and we can
now continue our work, caring for vulnerable families in Israel, from
fresh, convenient, user friendly premises which very soon we will
come to think of as “Daughter” of WIZO House.
All the team are looking forward to welcoming you to our new
home so please call and pop in soon for a full guided tour.
Warmest good wishes.

as a team
WIZO House has been the heart and soul of this
wonderful organization for almost 50 years.
As the charity has evolved, the building has been
adapted for our needs. However, large amounts of the
space it provides are not utilized for most of the time.
We are now looking forward to moving to modern
premises, which will provide an element of meeting
space where we aim to retain much of the ethos of
WIZOUK. This will also provide a modern day working
environment. Looking to the future, this will have a
beneficial effect on the running of the charity.
We are very excited to be moving to modern premises.
Our new offices are conveniently located on Finchley
Road, directly opposite Waitrose and a couple of minutes
walk from Finchley Road Underground Station. They will
be light and bright. We are confident that our new home
will shortly become a vibrant hub for all of WIZO’s staff,
members, volunteers and Trustees.
