There I stood in line – the line for hotdogs at a Bush open house for my sister who was looking for high schools. I was starving. It was a pretty long line and it was moving pretty fast, but it seemed like forever. Finally I got to the front of the line and the hotdog man asked me what I wanted. “I’ll have a hot dog with ketchup and relish on it and a spicy vegetarian sausage for my dad.” The hotdog man said, “You should try putting the hot sauce on the spicy vegetarian sausage.” I said okay. I went to find my dad and we ate. When we were done I decided to go get another hot dog. This time there was barely anyone in line. I looked at the cart and spotted something. “What is that?” I challenged. “That? That’s my cream cheese gun, you should try some on your hotdog, it’s like mayo on a sandwich.” “Okay,” I decided. I’m not afraid to try new things, unlike my friends. I watched him shoot cream cheese onto the hotdog with his awesome gun, my eyes wide. I took the hotdog and went to find my dad. “This is really good!” I exclaimed. It was the best hotdog I had ever tasted! It was so great, like an explosion of awesome in my mouth! As I finished the hotdog I went to get another one of the grand concoctions (hotdogs). I practically ran to get another hotdog. I got one and went to a great student concert. After the concert I got another hotdog. So the moral of the story is you should stop being a scaredy cat and actually try new things!!! Even if you don’t like it when you try it, it’s not the end of the world!!! It drives me crazy when you won’t try new things!!! So stop being a baby and try them!!!! The End ™ an original story by Aliza Eaton Surfs Up by Annabelle Prologue: “Right! Right foot first! Push up position, then right foot first! Don’t nose dive! Don’t try to hang ten! You’ll do great!” I pep talked myself. I’m still thinking of all the things that could go wrong! My mom and I are ready to take are first surfing lesson! At least I think we are, although I can’t speak for my mom. I’ll admit, I was so nervous! “We’re all going to use six-foot long boards.” The instructor’s voice rang in my ears. ”Are you guys ready?” Chapter one: Paddle out The water of the Atlantic Ocean is lapping at my ankles. It feels so nice! I can’t feel the rocks under foot because I’m wearing water shoes so my feet don’t stick to the board. Speaking of the board, our instructor is helping me carry the big yellow board I’m going to be using. “Hop on and I’ll tow you out,” the instructor tells me. “OK,” I reply. I hop on the board and we start paddling out to the waves. Chapter two: I’m up We’re looking for waves. “I see a set coming,” the instructor exclaimed. “Who wants to ride the first wave?” “I’ll do it,” Mom volunteers. She rides the wave. It was a smooth ride. She paddles back to us. “That was fun!” she exclaims. “My turn!” I say. The next wave is coming. I’m ready. I look down into the water. There’s a baby sea turtle swimming under my board. All the sudden I get a push. I know what to do. I hear my mom yell, “paddle” in the distance. I am in push up position. I slowly stand up. I’m up! Chapter three: Back to shore After a lot more waves, we head back to shore. “Nice job!” The instructor tells me “Thanks!” I say. “That was so much fun!” I tell my mom. “Definitely!” She says. I think of how much fun I had. I got to see a baby sea turtle, (I better tell Danielle about that!). I got to see beautiful tropical fish. I got to surf in the Atlantic Ocean! Epilogue: I am sitting on a bench looking at the huge white, green, and yellow mountain of shaved ice in my hands. Coconut, lemon-lime, and mango. I take a bite of the cold yummy treat. There’s ice cream in the middle. It’s the most delicious, creamy, and vanillaish ice cream I’ve ever had. “This is so good!” I told my mom. “Definitely!” she, my dad, and my brother, Sam, agreed. I am thinking about all the fun I had surfing. Now that’s something I’d do again! Riding Space Mountain By: Danielle Lavitt “Uggh” I exclaimed. We were waiting in line to ride Space Mountain. We had been waiting for what seemed like forever, and I was getting bored. I turned to Teo. “Can I sit next to you?” I questioned. “That’s fine with me,” Teo replied, “but, only if we can sit in the front.” ”Ok, fine” I compromised. The line finally started moving and we were in the quote unquote terminal. The terminal was basically the place where all the trains start and finish. The whole terminal looks like it’s from the Galactic universe or the futuristic style from The Jetsons. Finally, it was our turn; we boarded the train, Teo and I in the front, Margot and my dad behind us, then my mom and Matt, and finally Makala and Michele. Then the staff person said, “Lower the bar in front of you and keep your hands inside the train at all times, thank you and enjoy the ride.” We started slow then when we got to a small hill, a robotic voice croaked, “1 2 3 GO!” and we took off, zooming. Besides the small lights that looked like stars it was black as space. Suddenly we zipped around a corner and Teo screamed, “This is awesome!” “You bet it is!” I answered. We zipped around a corner and since we were going sooo fast, the air was in my eyes and I shed a single tear. As we curved around another corner my tear flung off my face and away into the darkness surrounding us. We zipped around more turns, then finally at the end we got to a flat space and we went rreeaallyy fast and a camera took our photo, “flash!” “We’re at the terminal!” my dad exclaimed when we got off. Teo shouted “That was…AWESOME!” I agree, it really was! Snorkeling By: Eli Gottlieb “I hope the wind settles down,” I told my family. “Me too,” replied my mom. We were in Hawaii and really wanted to snorkel. There was only one problem, it was super windy outside. You don’t want to go snorkeling when it’s windy because a huge gust of wind could carry you out to sea! “Maybe tomorrow,” I said to my family. I want to sleep that night hoping that it would clear up the next day. “Yes! Yessssssssssssssssssssss!” I scream. I couldn’t believe it. It was a clear, sunny, wind-free day! We could actually go snorkeling. This would be my second time going snorkeling, and hopefully the best time. It’s going to be the best day ever. My eyes were glued to the bottom of the ocean, scanning for the fish that my mom’s finger was pointing at. Then, all the sudden, it passed my eyes. It was the most interesting fish I had ever seen in my life. I had never seen anything like it! The fish was bright blue, maybe three feet long, and probably an inch wide. It kind of looked like a snake, but it had more vibrant colors than any snake I had ever seen. Another interesting fact about that fish was that it stayed on the bottom of the ocean, and could streak through the water like a bullet. A couple days later, I went snorkeling again. As I was stepping into the water, I was hoping to see my “special friend” the blue fish. When I got into deep water, I looked everywhere for him but couldn’t find him anywhere. All the sudden, something caught my eye. There were two blue fish right in front of me! One was in a perfectly straight line. The other in a zigzag form. When I saw this, I was amazed. I realized how living things can look so different in the ocean. It was a moment I will never forget. MY BIKE BY ELI ISAAC I was at Recycle Cycles. Bikes were everywhere, even hanging from the ceiling! I was looking for a new bike because my other bike was always losing its chain. I was looking for a new bike that had gears. My friend Sam got a new bike. It was a Garry Fisher. It was such a cool bike. They’re probably one of the best bikes in the world because Garry Fishers go really fast. I tried to find the bike at Recycle Cycles because he got it there. We looked at all the Recycle Cycles stores, but we did not find it. They were out of stock of that bike for a long time. Then I looked for different bike, one that has gears. There were so many to choose from. We looked at all the stores. Then my mom and I went back to one of the Recycle Cycles. A guy showed my mom and I a bike that had 21 gears, it had shocks too. It was black and gray. It was a Diamondback bike. I got on the bike and the man said, “It’s a little too big, but you will grow into it fast.” I got to test it out in the parking lot. I told my mom, “It’s a great bike.” So we went home and I let my mom think about it for a couple of days. I was at Sam’s house playing when my mom came over. She said, “Let’s go if you want that new bike.” I was so happy I would finally get my bike. I said “Bye Sam, see you tomorrow. Let’s go mom.” We got into the car. I was so excited I’d finally get it. We got to the store. We got the bike and crammed it in to the car. It barely fit. We finally got home. I was so happy I got the new bike. Once we got home I took it out of the car. I stared riding right away. I rode it to Sam’s house. He said, “nice bike.” “Thanks “I said. Then Sam and I rode around in the alley. SWIM TEST by Eli R It was the day that I had the swim test. I was so scared because this was my first swim test for a team. I was also happy that I got this far. The first test was breast stroke. I walked into the pool, and waited for the sign to go. I started swimming. It was easy. Then butterfly. It was the scariest stroke ever. I brought my hands over my head, and I took my first breath. It was scary because it was difficult. Then I brought my hands into the water. I was done with butterfly. Then it was back stroke. It was so easy I zoomed through the water. Last was crawl stroke. I was with Jacques. He was cheering and watching me swim. I also had my mom and Vega with me. I made the team, but after a week I recalled it. It was too hard but I was super happy for myself because I tried. THE END The Origami Kit by: Hannah “Whoosh”, The door to my house opened and I saw a shiny wrapped present on the dining room table. As I walked closer to the present I saw it said To: Hannah From: Andrew and James, it was for me! I quickly opened it, it was an origami kit. There were more than 80 origami sheets; there were sections in the kit’s book that showed you how to make the origami. In a few minutes I was making origami like I had known how to do origami all my life! On the table next to me were water lilies, Spanish boxes, water bombs, and irises all made out of paper! This was sooo fun. Then a thought hit me, “I had seen part of this book somewhere!” I had seen a part of the book at the school library. Suddenly my eyes flew to the page that I was currently on, blintzes, blintzes, blin- wait! Blintzes? The page said blintz fold, what was that? It turns out that the blintz fold looked like a blintz, it was in most of the origami that I did and I didn’t even notice it! I thought what? Why are blintzes in here? The origami kit was awesome! I hope someday I can make some really complex origami like the ones I saw in the book. THE END Xorb ball on my birthday by Isaac On my birthday, which was in Thailand when I did this, I went to this place where I did this thing called the Xorb ball with my big sister, Shira. The Xorb ball is a big floating inflated ball that can fit two people, and has a hole in the bottom that you can open when you get to the bottom of the hill. My mom and dad had already gone. My mom was doing this weird laugh that I don’t usually hear her doing that sounded like she was having fun. Now it was mine and Shira’s turn. I got into the Xorb ball and the people who work there buckled me in. They rolled the ball over so they can buckle Shira in which puts me upside down. Once we were both buckled in they said, “Are you ready?” “Yeah,” I responded. “Ready,” Shira said, laughing. They pushed us off the ramp and we started rolling. Shira continued her laughing, but even louder and more joyful. “Oh great,” I said right when they pushed us down the ramp and we both started to spin with the ball. Then we started rolling faster and faster and it got more and more fun. Then (though we didn’t know it), one of the people who worked there came running after us like they did for my mom and dad, and he pushed us faster and faster. Then ‘splash’ we plopped in to the water and started to slow down. “Oh great,” said Shira. “What?” I said. “Look,” she responded. I looked down. I saw that the hole we were supposed to get out of once we unbuckled ourselves had landed face down in the water so we couldn’t get out very easily, and we didn’t land next to the dock-ish thing we were supposed land near. “Oh...yeah,” I said slowly. “How are we going to get out?” said Shira. “I don’t know,” I said. “I got it,” said Shira. “You’re going to have to unbuckle yourself and roll the ball around. That way we can get it into a different position so we can get out.” “Okay,” I said nervously. I got unbuckled myself and walked around, still in the ball, watching Shira go upside-down, and right-side up, and upside-down, and right-side up, and upside-down, and right-side up, as I did it rolling the ball around like a hamster in a hamster ball, eventually Shira started to help me roll the Xorb ball. We got the ball to the dock-ish thing we were suppose to arrive at. When we got to the dock-ish thing I could hear my mom and dad cheering. We got out and I ran to my dad. “That was so awesome,” I said doing these tiny hops with my legs. When we got back to the van I said to my dad, “That’s something to post on trip adviser!” “Turn to the right! No! Your other right!” “Eli please, I’m the pilot here.” “I should be the pilot!” “No you shouldn’t you’re going to crash us!” “He has a point there,” Aliza said. Hold on a sec, let me back up a bit now just a … ah ha! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzwwwwwwwwwwwwwwii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiippppppppp. Okay much better. We were at my house and we were playing Skylanders Giants, level 13, “The Flight of Arkus” and Eli I. and I were piloting, well if you could call it that. We were fighting over the pilot. “Turn to the right! No! Your other right!” “Eli please, I’m the pilot here.” I really wanted to win the level. With him talking, it wouldn’t happen any time soon. “I should be the pilot!” “No you shouldn’t, you’re going to crash us!” “He has a point there,” Aliza said. “True dat,” I thought to myself. “No way!” Eli whispered. “Eli stop whining and shoot!” I said. “OH MY GOSH!!!! I hate these guys!” Eli shouted. Finally the pizza got there just in time for dinner. I was very relieved that we could have a little time off for a while. When we had finished eating we walked back to the television room, (all of us – me, Eli, and Aliza) and started playing again. I was thinking, “Don’t let Eli be the pilot.” Then Eli was the pilot, and (big surprise) we crashed, like twenty times! IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! I realized that it doesn’t matter if you win or lose; it only matters if you play with your friends. The end by Jacques When I got out of the metro I walked all the way to the Lincoln exhibit. I saw the statue of Lincoln. It was huge!!! He was sitting in an arm chair which was made out of limestone. Next I walked to the Washington exhibit. It was a long walk! Then I went to the Veteran’s exhibit. It was gigantic! Then I saw the outside of White House. It was getting dark. My mom said that we are going to a hotel, so we drove to the hotel, when we got a room card. We walk to the hotel room there was a TV. We turn on Men in Black 2 then we ordered pizza. When the pizza came we devoured it, we were hungry. When Men in Black 2 was over my mom said it was time to go to bed. I was going to a wedding tomorrow I was excited. By Jeremiah Sleepover with Paz I couldn’t wait. In a few minutes Marci would pick me up. At the moment I was nervously waiting on the couch with a book, as always. “Come on, come on, ring doorbell, ring!” Just then the doorbell rang. “I got it, I got it!!” I shouted. I jumped up, raced across the room and skidded to a stop at the door. When I got to the door I didn’t even ask who it was (but technically I don’t do that anyway). Marci stood in the doorway with Paz. Pazi raced up and hugged me “LILY!!” “PAZI!!” we shouted at each other. “Calm down!” said my mom. “Go get your stuff and we will go!” said Marci. She was holding a bag of candy and Pazi was grinning like a mad man. I rushed down the stairs in a blur. When I came back up Marci and Paz-Paz were waiting patiently. I held my bag tightly, kissed my mom goodbye, and stepped out into the open darkness of the world. “Bum, BUM, Bbbuumm,” I thought. I put down my bag and looked around. “Let’s go!” Pazi breathed in my ear. I turned around so fast I flicked her with my hair. “Owch,” she said covering her nose. “Whatever!” I shouted, and I raced up the stairs, went into Pazi’s room, and closed the door behind me. I looked around trying to think of what to do. Wait, light bulb moment, ah, got it! I locked the door behind me and sat down, waiting, in one, two, three - bang, bang, bang, and that would be Pazi, I thought. “Let me in!” She shouted from the other side of the door. “Nope!” I shouted back. “Come on!” she whined. “Hhmm, let me think,” I said sarcastically. “Really?” she said earnestly. “No, of course not!” I got out before laughing. “What?” she said. “I was joking; of course you can come in!” “Come get your nachos!” Marci called up to me and Paz. We didn’t respond but still came down. “How’s your first sleepover with Paz going so far?” “Awesome!” I said. “How many movies do you want to watch?” Pazi said, looking at me expectantly. “Um, what?” I asked, confused. “How many movies do you want to watch?!” she said again. “Uh, one?” I said still confused. “Oh, come on, four and over!” she said, exasperated. “Seven?” “Sure!” “Okay, let’s eat and then will go get the movies!” “Why don’t you guys decide on the movies before you get them?” Marci pitched in. “Okay!” ”Let’s get: Princess Dairies 1 and 2, Doogle, Harry Potter 3, um that other movie -“ “What movie?” I interrupted. “You know.” “No I don’t know!” “Well anyway, I’m going to continue and hopefully you won’t rudely interrupt me like you did before!” Pazi said looking at me. “Yeah, yeah!” I didn’t really care, I was having so much fun. “Let’s get Dave and we will go!” “Okay,” said Dave, looking up from the counter “Oh,” oops, I thought, not realizing he was sitting right there. “Let’s go!” This is going to be the best sleepover EVER! The day David Brumer died By Margot We were in a restaurant, ordering food. “What would you like to order, ma’am?” The waiter asks me. “Spaghetti al pomadoro, please.” I respond as he leaves. “Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!” my mom screams looking at her iPhone. “What?” I ask. “What the***” Screams my mom. “Mom, is everything okay?” I question worriedly. “Dad, what is going on?” I see tears come out of my parents eyes. “Did someone die?” Danielle wonders. “Yes” Says my dad, with an urge to keep back the tears. I tried to think of all the old people I know who are old. “Did Nana die?” “No,” Dad responds, this time with tears streaming down his face. “Who, daddy, who?” I question. I feel my heart go, thump, thump, thump. It is pounding hard. My mom recovered from crying a little bit. “Mom, your making me worried.” I say. “Who died?” “David Brumer” she chokes trying to hold back the tears but can’t. Tears come down her cheeks like rivers. My heart jumps to my throat. I feel the tears on my face now. I can’t speak. My tears are hot and sticky. “Pam, I am so sorry.” Says my uncle holding her hand. I finally bring up the courage to ask, “How?” “He was hiking and he had a major heart attack, and he died.” “Pam, did we know him?” My grandma ponders. “I think so.” My mom thinks way back in her mind. “We could go to the Sephardic temple?” I say trying to sound resourceful. “No.” “Let’s have one minute of silence for David.” And so we had one minute of silence. It felt like eternity. It went on, and on, and on. Ride the W.A.V.E. By: Pazia Greenberg “Turn left,” my mom yelled. “Here we go,” I thought. All of a sudden I felt a rush of wind come at me like a lion comes at it’s pray. It was so thrilling I forgot where I was. My mom and I were riding an all-girls bike ride to stop domestic violence called the W.A.V.E., meaning women against violence everywhere. “We are coming up on the half-way point.” “Okay,” I replied. A few minutes later we stopped and got some food and energy drinks. When we got back on our bikes I saw a big hill. “Boy am I glad we don’t have to bike up that hill,” I said. “Pazia, we do.” My mom replied (Oh, I almost forgot, this is a twenty-six mile bike ride and I am on my own bike.) My feet felt like I was walking on hot coals. I got to the top of the hill and almost fainted. I was so proud of myself. We were almost to the finish line and I felt so good that I was at a bike ride that was supporting a mitzvah project. We made it back and I got a lot of sugar. It was one of the best days of my life. The End The Playoffs by Rebecca The playoffs were hard. It was the top five teams in the league. My team, the Red Socks, were in the playoffs with the Dodgers, the Mariners, the Braves, and the Angels. We had made it all the way to the semifinals. We were playing the Angels. It was the ninth inning and the score was 4-3. We were down by one. Our best hitter, Jarod, was up to bat. I was in the dugout watching him, crossing my fingers that he would get a hit. He got a double. In my head I was thinking, “yay!” There was one out and a 3-2 count. I was up. I was feeling really scared and I was hoping I would get a hit. The pitcher threw the ball. I swung with all my might. “BOOOM!!!” My first hit!! “Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!” I yelled as I ran to first base! In my head I was screaming with joy. I was also very relieved and proud of myself. It was awesome. The next hitter was Connor. He got a single, so Jarod scored and I was at second base. The score was tied 4-4. Joseph got up and he hit into a double play. That was the end of the inning. As I walked back to the dugout, my teammates all congratulated me! I felt really happy. The Angels were up and they got a run. We ended up losing 5-4, but it was still a really fun and exciting game. It was the best day of my life! 58-0, Seattle All you can hear is the blue thunder band and all you can feel is cold wet rain, but Seahawks games are more than that. Fireworks are zooming across the sky inside and around Centrylink Field as the crowd erupts in screams that say “Go get them Seahawks” and “You’re so bad cardinals,” but obviously they had one too many drinks. The smack of a foot as the kicker starts the game with a kickoff and from our seats the football looks like it is in the skyline and everything else in Seattle is fogged out. The kickoff takes my mind off the fireworks and puts my mind on the game as the cardinals snap the ball for the first time. The pass is to Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald. The ball pops up. Then, Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner catches it, as I jump up and yell “Yes!” to my dad as we exchange high-fives. The Seahawks offense jogs on to the field led by Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch. I can picture the play in my head. It was half back Draw run 39 yards up the middle. “Now that is the way to start a game,” I thought. It was 4th and 10 on the Arizona 28 yard line. Haushka was lined up to take a field goal and the kick was good. Every fan was on their feet, but that was only the start of one the biggest blowouts in NFL history. It went by too fast to tell you all details but it was the best football game I ever went to. By Sam ome on Talya! Come on Michaela, it’s time to go!” my dad yelled. Mom had already been driven to the hospital, and I was getting ready to go to my friend Julie’s house while mom and dad were at the hospital waiting for the baby. n the morning I had chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. I was scared but sooo excited to hear what my sister or brother looked like. We didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl. That’s one of the reasons I was so excited. In the car Julie told me that dad just called and he said that the baby is a girl. After that, all I could think about was what my baby sister was going to look like. was trembling a little when I got out of the car and went into hospital. As we were going up the elevator I felt my heart start to pound. The higher the elevator rose the faster my heart pounded. e walked into the hospital room, I felt like I couldn’t walk anymore. I walked in and gave my mom a hug. After that I stopped shaking. Michaela and I saw the baby. She was soo cute like a little ball of cuteness. Suddenly Julie broke my thoughts by yelling, “Michaela, Sophie was wondering if you wanted to come over today!” ichaela thought about it and then yelled back, “Okay, I’m coming!” hen Michaela left, mom said softly, “Hey Talya, want to hold Ayelet?” nd I whispered a little, “Okay, but mom I don’t really know how to hold a baby.” o she picked up Ayelet and put her next to her and showed me how to hold a baby. o Talya, first you wrap your arms around each other like a circle.” Once I had it, she put Ayelet in my arms and told me to make sure that my arms were supporting Ayelet’s head and her legs and feet. yelet was beautiful. She was soft, warm, and sweet. She was really cute. Her little body fit perfectly in my arms. After I was done holding her, dad said, “We need to go get Ayelet’s shot done so we can go home.” I wasn’t sure what he meant, but I went anyway. After we got out I had to cover my eyes to keep the sun out. n the car I was so excited. I was thinking “How fun is it going to be to help Ayelet walk.” When we got home we put Ayelet in the crib to see if she liked it. I could tell that she was very happy to see her new home. When I broke my T.V. by Zachary Once we had some friends over for dinner one night. When the guests came in, we started talking and playing for a little. Then I asked my mom if I could play Super Mario Galaxy 2 and she said “yes.” I got out Super Mario and put it in the Wii and started playing. I went to the first level, the level looked like an island floating high in the air with these fly trap plants that could bite you and make you lose one of your lives. Suddenly, a small brown monster came and a shot a rock out of its mouth. The rock missed me and then I jumped on the monster and made it disappear. I ran forwards, but then one of the fly traps bit me once, twice, then three times and I lost. I tried again, but the same thing happened. On my last try I finally got past the fly trap. Then I moved the Wii remote forwards so that my character could get away from trouble. I went to where Yoshi was. He was in an egg trapped inside a force field with this wizard guarding him. I tried to hit him but it wasn’t easy. He keped on hitting me, but then I got close to him and I was about to hit him, but before I knew it I threw my arm forwards. Suddenly I noticed that since I was so eager to defeat the wizard I had moved forwards. Suddenly the remote smashed into the TV. I was really worried. I calmed myself down, then I went upstairs to tell my mom what happened. “Mom,” I said with a worried face. “What is it,” said my mom, “Did something happen?” I didn’t want to tell her what happened but I had to tell her sometime. After I told her what happened to the TV she got my dad and they both came downstairs. There was a dot in the middle of the TV; there were these wiggly cracks that were connected to the dot that led off somewhere else on the TV. After a couple of days we got a new TV. Flight of the Navigator By: Zoe “What’s Flight of The Navigator?” I ask my grandma. “It’s an old movie,” she replied. I thought a while, maybe I would, and maybe wouldn’t. The truth is I didn’t even know what it was about. My assumption was it was about a boy who navigated an airship. Besides, I had never seen this movie and it was the only movie in my grandma’s house’s kids section of movies that I had never watched. After lunch, I decided to watch Flight of the Navigator. “I want to watch Flight of the Navigator,” I exclaimed. Once we put the DVD in the DVD player in the TV room (AKA my room) the movie started with a dog show; apparently this movie took place in 1987 (because it was the 1987 dog show). The movie also took place around the 4th of July. I know this because the boy’s mom told him to be back to light the firecrackers in the boat (dangerous right?). “Could I have a ginger ale please,” I asked towards the beginning of the movie. We paused the movie and my grandma went to get the ginger ale. After my grandma left I thought about what could happen next in the movie. I was thinking maybe he would return home as a twelve year old and always be eight years younger than the other kids. Then I also thought maybe he would be stuck on the airship forever. Or maybe even he could go to another planet from where the airship was from and live there. Then my grandma came back and we started the movie again. In the movie the boy took a short cut through the woods to pick up his brother; he ended up in an airship that could travel faster than the speed of light! That means that on earth eight years passed and only a few seconds on the airship. The coolest part had to be when we saw the boy go back in time so he could do the whole thing over again so he could live a normal life. I could not speak because it was too cool. It took him to the woods then he ran to the boat and helped set off the fire crackers (STILL DANGEROUS!). After the movie ended I turned to my grandma and said, “That’s the best movie I have ever seen.” THE END
