THE COUNTRYSIDE
2011 has been an important year for CPRE and the future
of the countryside, with the Government proposing the
biggest reform of the planning system for over 60 years.
CPRE has led a year-long campaign to lobby the
Government to deliver a National Planning Policy
Framework (NPPF) which will safeguard the countryside.
But unless we can persuade Ministers to change course
over the next few months, we fear the new planning
framework will leave most of the countryside prey to
sprawling, low quality development.
