Second year Dental Hygiene students provided preventative dental care, including dental cleanings, fluoride varnish treatments, and dental screenings. The children who took part in the clinic live at The Children’s Village, a planned multigenerational community where children live with foster parents or staff in family-style homes. There are also apartments for surrogate grandparents. The goal of The Children’s Village is to keep siblings together and provide a stable environment for the children. SRJC Dental Hygiene student Shelly, seated left, provides dental care to a child from The Children’s Village. Melinda Moir, center, is President of the Board of Directors at The Children’s Village and a retired SRJC faculty member and dental hygienist. With the temporary loss of the Doyle Scholarship in 2008, many students who deserve awards will not receive scholarship funds to attend Santa Rosa Junior A Legacy Beyond Measure “...to establish scholarships for worthy young men and women attending Santa Rosa Junior College...” College. Until the Doyle Scholarship is restored, the help of the Sonoma County community is badly needed to help 2,000 deserving high school seniors - Class of 2009 - to attend SRJC this fall. For six decades more than $76 million from the Frank P. Doyle Trust provided Doyle Scholarships to over 120,000 SRJC students. To continue this remarkable legacy, we urge you to be a part of the “Bridging the Doyle” campaign so the dreams of our graduates do not disappear. Frank P. Doyle When you join with members of our community to send your donation, the combined funds will create scholarships for thousands of SRJC students. Her energy and sense of humor, even in the face of illness, served as an example to those around her,” David said of his mother. Pat is survived by her husband of 63 years Forest, their son David and daughter-in law Linda, and grandson Ryan Willat, all residents of Santa Rosa. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Pat’s name to the Novato Historical Guild (75 Rowland Way, #200, Novato 94945) or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (Mission and Court St., San Rafael).
