Week of October 24, 2016 Monday Government: Students will continue to prepare for Wednesday’s Mock election. GOAL: Students will continue taking notes on the important events of the Revolution, today we will cover the Declaration of Independence and the Battle of Long Island. Reminder that their assignment on Thomas Paine and “Common Sense” is due on Wednesday APUSH: Chapter 9 Quiz – Completion of notes on the critical period and the ratification of the Constitution. Tuesday Government: Mock Election preparation GOAL: Students will continue taking notes from power point on the Revolution. Today will cover the Battles of Long Island and Trenton. Students will then watch scenes from the move “The Crossing.” APUSH: Question of the week will be given for Homework – excerpt from the Listen to songs from “Hamilton” and identify differences between Jeffersonian and Hamiltonian values - Due tomorrow for completion/discussion grade. Today’s lecture will focus on chapter 10 and the beginning of the Federalist period. Wednesday Government: Today’s class will be spent gathering Mock election ballots and tabulating the results. GOAL: No class today (Students are to report to the CSC for a presentation on the Art Collection) Thomas Paine assignment due today – will be collected before presentation. APUSH: Discussion of Question of the week. Today’s lecture will focus on the creation of political parties under Jefferson and Hamilton. The goals and desires of each side will be compared and contrasted. Thursday Government: Wrap up of Mock election. Students will also be given a study guide for Monday’s exam on the Executive Branch. GOAL: Students will complete a flow charts on the Battle of Saratoga and Yorktown. Using Yorktown’s surrender ceremony as a guide, students will create a “play list” for the American Revolution. Students will share play lists with class tomorrow. APUSH: Review guide for Monday’s exam will be distributed. Completion of Chapter 10 notes with a look at the fall from power of the Federalists. Friday Government: Review for Monday’s exam on the executive branch. GOAL: Students will use today to complete their Revolutionary War “Play List.” Students will present their songs and the reason for each. A review sheet for next Tuesday’s exam on the Revolution will be distributed. APUSH: Review activity for Monday’s exam.
