The Tooth Fairy
True story submitted by: Clara P., GSE Resident
I once babysat a small girl named Tracey Ann. I was watching her one day
when mom and dad were home and my brother Willie was out in the field
working. Tracey Ann lost her tooth on this day, so I told her that we should go
outside and find a nice rock to put her tooth under and see if the tooth fairy
would come. So we went outside and found a nice rock and a good area to
leave the tooth under the rock.

We went inside to get some chores done later returning to check the rock. My
father had gone out while we were busy in the house and put a few pennies
down under the rock. Tracey Ann was ecstatic to find the tooth fairy had come
and left her the coins. I told her to take the coins and leave the tooth to see if
maybe the tooth fairy would return and leave more coins.

So we went inside the house and Tracey Ann took a nap. When she woke, she
ran out to the place where she left the rock and her tooth to find a few new
coins left under the rock with her tooth! She was so excited and decided that
she would leave the tooth and rock alone again to see if more coins would
appear.

Awhile later, she heard my mom go out the front door. She very patiently
waited by my side until she heard my mom come back in the door but then shot
out the door to check her tooth and rock. Lo and behold, more coins!!
She was so pleased with all the coins her tooth was
attracting from the tooth fairy! She looked at me and
very casually asked,
“If I leave the rock and tooth out again, do
you think Willie’s fairy will come and give
me some penny’s?”

Monthly Book Discussion
Group on AgingBeginning May
Written by: Chaplain Aram, GSE Staff
Chaplain Aram will be leading a
monthly discussion based on the
book, The Gift of Years: Growing
Older Gracefully, by Sister Joan
Chittister. There are 40 brief
chapters in this book (3-6 pages
per chapter). The book includes
topics such as regret, meaning,
fear, joy, forgiveness, adjustment,
relationships, letting go, faith,
legacy, sadness, dreams,
solitude, and many others. We’ll have lots of
time for discussion on each topic; and if you
didn’t have opportunity to read the chapter
beforehand, that’s OK – don’t let that stop you
from participating! Also, you don’t need to
attend every month – just come when you can.
We will meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month
beginning May 16. We will meet from 6:15 –
7:30 PM in the Party Room on the 14th Floor.
If you would like Aram to order you a book,
please sign up on the sheet in the West Lobby
Bulletin Board table, or call Chaplain Aram at
303-964-2355. The price of the book is $8.
(*Note: We don’t want money to prevent you
from getting this book; if you need financial
assistance, please let Aram know).

WELCOME TO OUR
NEW NEIGHBORS
You are worth celebrating. You are worth everything. You are unique.
Phyllis L. - East
In all the whole world, there is only one you. There is only one person
with your talents, your experience, your God-given gifts.
NO ONE CAN TAKE YOUR PLACE!
Jerry H. - East
God created only one you, precious in his sight. You have immense
potential to love, to care, to create, to grow, to sacrifice If you believe in yourself.
It doesn’t matter your age, or your color, or whether your parents loved
you or not (maybe they wanted to but couldn’t). Let that go; it belongs
to the past. You belong to the now...the now Christ creates in you.

Spring is here and what a beautiful time of year at The Gardens with
flowers blooming everywhere.
I would like to thank all of the residents for your continued donations
to the Chapel, Employee Financial Assistance, Activities Fund and
more.
We have reapplied for the grant for the pipe organ restoration. We
should hear from the Colorado Historical Society in August 2017.
I have been asked by some residents where the donations from
the bake sales, cards, etc. are directed. They are directed to the
Activity Fund. If you have any questions, please ask Mike or me.
If you would like information on donating a leaf for the donor wall,
please contact me. A donation of $100 will get you a leaf, and you
can decide what to have printed on the leaf. Please let me know if
you have any questions.
Joy and I have talked about giving a tour of St. Anthony Hospital
and the Flight For Life Command Center to our residents. If you are
interested, please let Joy or me know and we can set up a group tour.
Funds for The Gardens are raised through a variety of ways, with a
high percentage coming from individual giving including memorial
contributions and gifts left through Wills or Trusts. If you are interested
in learning more about naming The Gardens at St. Elizabeth
Foundation in your estate plans or any other questions, please
contact Betsy at 303-253-4891.
Thanks to all of you for your wonderful support!

Yearly Increase Letters
By now you all should have received or soon will be receiving the yearly rate
increase letters.
You will see that there is a slight increase that will be effective on July 1st due to
increased costs in food, supplies and utilities. Other local senior living communities
are increasing rents as well, sometimes at much higher percentages than we have
here. Being a not-for profit we do our best not to increase rates too much each
year and try our best to keep our increases below industry average.
If you have any questions about the yearly increase, please feel free to contact
me.
Chaplain Aram’s Monthly Word of Reflection and Prayer:
Control vs. Surrender
As we age, we are increasingly confronted with loss of
control over various areas of our life: control over where we
live; control of our bodies – whether it be our eyesight, our
hearing, our memory, our bladder; loss of mobility – whether
it be our automobile, or our ability to walk unassisted. As we
age, we are met with daily realities where it seems we have
no decision and little if any control. However, though these
