Standard BD 12/95 - Design of Corrugated Steel Buried Structures with Spans not Exceeding 8m (Including
Circular Arches) - is applicable in Ireland with the following amendments:
GENERAL
1.
This Standard provides specification requirements for use in public purchasing contracts. It does not
lay down legislation requirements for products and materials used in road construction in Ireland.

proprietary manufactured structures.
The
design procedures shall comply with the
requirements of NRA BD 2 (NRA DMRB 1.1).
The design organisation shall give due
consideration to the appropriate contractual
procedures for the adoption of proprietary
manufactured structures.”

The harshness of the atmospheric
environment shall be determined by the Design
Organisation. The corrosivity (acid deposition)
value shall be classified as „non-aggressive‟,
„aggressive‟ or „very aggressive' as appropriate.
Both the general location and any significant
environmental factors in the area shall be taken
into account. Thus, for example, pollution from
a nearby industrial plant may override the
general classification.
Where necessary,
specialist advice should be sought.”
