RATIONALE FOR NOMINATION
Ms. Allegra has been a leader at Wall Street on Demand/Markit on Demand for 20 years
including service as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Learning Officer and currently Global Head.
She has been awarded the Esprit Entrepreneurship Award from the Boulder Chamber of
Commerce. Her company employs 400 people that define, design, develop and deploy some of
the world’s richest content in finance, media and healthcare. They are responsible for a billion
weekly web hits, 199 billion ads served, 39 billion page views and won the Apple Award for last
year’s best news reader on the iPad.
Her community service includes Bryn Mawr Board of Trustees, serving as Co-Chair of the Two
College Council with Haverford College, and in the past she has served as the Executive Director
for a non-profit theater company in NY.
Ms. Allegra will represent Boulder County and will bring years of teaching/training experience
to our council, in addition to her experience in technology and management.

Catherine Allegra
Global Head of Markit on Demand
Catherine joined Wall Street on Demand soon after it was founded in 1991. Wall Street
on Demand, now Markit on Demand, has been a leading provider of services in the
design, development and hosting of financial services websites, reports and tools for the
past two decades. In 1996, the Company moved its headquarters from New York City to
Boulder, Colorado, and just two years later the Company was acquired by Bridge
Information Systems. In 2001, Reuters acquired Wall Street on Demand only to be
bought back by the company and group of private investors in 2003. Goldman Sachs
purchased Wall Street on Demand in 2006 and recently sold the company to the
London-based company, Markit. In 2003 the Boulder Chamber of Commerce presented
Catherine with the Esprit Entrepreneurship Award.
Over the past twenty years, Catherine has lead Markit on Demand, in a variety of roles,
acting as the Chief Learning Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and most recently as
Global Head of Markit on Demand. Her work and passion has been and is creating
innovative and collaborative cultures and developing the managers to lead them. In
addition to her work at Markit on Demand, Catherine was the National Executive
Director of Plays for Living, a non-profit theater company in NYC, focused on social and
health issues; worked as a professional actress in Boston and Chicago and taught high
school reading in the Chicago Public Schools.
Catherine has served on many non-profit and corporate boards including the Bryn Mawr
College Board of Trustees where she was most recently Vice-Chairman and now serves
as Special Representative and Co-Chair of the Two College Joint Council with
Haverford College. Catherine is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College where she majored in
history. Catherine is married to James Tanner and they live in Boulder, Colorado with
their three sons.
