Your child brought their
report card home on Friday. If
you have not seen it, check their
backpack.
Please review the report
card with your child. I explained
the format of the report card and what each
grade means to the kids. I explained that they
want to see ME’s on their report card. This means
that they are doing what is expected of a sixth
grade student. If they get an AE it means that
they are showing progress, but need a bit more
work. A PE is not bad, it just means that they
need to keep working and get help to get where
they need to be.
I stressed to them that the most important
part of the report card, in my mind, is the Work
Habits and Social Skills section. Work habits are
what define them as students. If they improve
those, all of the other grades should go up as well.
I also told them to pay close attention to the
Comments section.
Once the kids finished reviewing their
report cards, I had them fill out a goal sheet for
the second marking period. They reflected on
how they think they did and what they want to
continue doing or improve on in the next
marking period. I will share these papers with
you at conferences.
If you have any questions about their
report card, please bring those questions with
you to your conference.
Please bring your child’s report card
envelope with you to your conference, or you can
send it into school with your child. I look forward
to meeting with all of you this week.
