FEES FOR EACH CLUB ARE $25 ($5 per session) EXCEPT WHERE NOTED AGRICULTURE CLUB, offered by Mrs. Garofalo and Ms. DiEleuterio Day: Thursday Grade Level: 4th – 6th Grade Limit: 15 students Students will learn various planting and growing techniques useful in a fruit, vegetable, flower, and herb garden. Students will help with planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting. Students will have the opportunity to perform experiments in the science lab. BOWLING, offered by Mr. Worgess Day: Tuesday Grade Level: 3rd - 4th Grade Limit: 15 students Do you enjoy bowling? Have you ever tried bowling in Gym class? Students will learn the basics of bowling, including how to score a bowling game. Students will be placed in groups to compete in bowling games. Come have fun playing games with friends! BRAIN GAMES, offered by Mrs. Poe and Mr. Forsyth Day: Thursday Grade Level: 2nd – 3rd Grade Limit: 16 students Want to have fun while you give your brain a workout? Join us for an exciting hour of games geared toward developing memory, critical thinking, visual perception, and word skills. 1 CHESS, offered by Mr. Mazzoni Day: Wednesday Grade Level: 4th – 6th Grade Limit: 12 students The chess club is available to any student interested in learning this fun and challenging game, and to students who already have a working knowledge of the game. Beginners will focus on learning the moves of the chess pieces while more experienced students will focus on developing their strategic thinking skills. COOKING, offered by Mrs. Hatch and Mrs. McCreary Day: Thursday Grade Level: 3rd – 5th Grade Limit: 15 students Do you enjoy working the kitchen and creating your own dishes? Do you want to learn cooking skills that you can use at home? Come join the Cooking club! Students will learn kitchen safety and hygiene and have fun creating yummy snacks and treats! IMPORTANT NOTE: Cooking club cannot guarantee a peanut or allergy safe environment or accommodate individual dietary restrictions. Please note the reference specific to cooking club in the waiver attached to the enrollment sheet. CREATIVE WRITING, offered by Mrs. Garofalo Day: Tuesday Grade Level: 5th – 6th Grade Limit: 8 students Hone your writing skills! Let your voice be heard throughout the Chesterfield School community! Students will have an opportunity to try different forms of creative writing and develop their own “voice” in an interactive workshop environment. CRICKET, offered by Mr. Worgess Day: Thursday Grade Level: 4th – 6th Limit: 20 students Cricket is a fun bat-and-ball game played between two teams of players on a field at the center of which is a rectangular 22-yard long pitch. Each team takes it in turn to bat, attempting to score runs, while the other team fields. Each turn is known as an innings. The bowler delivers the ball to the batsman who attempts to hit the ball with his bat far enough for him to run to the other end of the pitch and score a run. Each batsman continues batting until he is out. The batting team continues batting until ten batsmen are out, at which point the teams switch roles and the fielding team comes in to bat. FLAG FOOTBALL, offered by Mr. Forsyth Day: Monday Grade Level: 3rd – 4th Grade Limit: 16 students Come join a friendly game of Flag Football with your friends. The club will demonstrate the basics of the game. Etiquette and sportsmanship will be strongly reinforced. 2 GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY, offered by Laura Flynn Day: Thursday Grade Level: 3rd – 6th Grade Limit: 10 students Fee: $50 which includes the equipment package. Otherwise $25 if students bring their own. This program is an introduction to field hockey basics. The goal of the program is to teach offensive and defensive strategies and positioning, including how to hold the stick, how to pass the ball, and how to block. Students will participate in modified games and game situations. Participation requires the purchase of a height appropriate field hockey stick, ball, shin guards and mouth guard. A “Junior Field Hockey Package” containing a stick, ball, shin guards and mouth guard is available for purchase through the CPEF. The CPEF will purchase the equipment from Longstreth, for $27.95 per student. www.longstreth.com The student keeps the equipment at the completion of the program. If a student already has equipment please remember to bring all to club sessions. Stick size is related to height; therefore, students are asked to indicate their height on the registration forms. MAKE IT WITH DUCT TAPE, offered by Mrs. Sakimura and Ms. DiEleuterio Day: Monday Grade Level: 4th – 6th Grade Limit: 16 students Duct tape – it’s not just for fixing pipes anymore – it’s fun on a roll! We will be using colorful Duck Tape brand duct tape to create bookmarks, bracelets, wallets, flowers, folders, and MORE! The last class will be a contest to unleash your own super-creative duct tape ideas. Come on out and learn everything you ever wanted to know about this sticky stuff. Do you already have Duck Tape at home? Feel free to bring it along! MATH GAMES, offered by Mrs. Kovac Day: Wednesday Grade Level: 2nd – 3rd Grade Limit: 12 students Math Games = Learning + Fun! Math games will encourage strategic thinking, promote positive attitudes toward math, and make learning fun! Get involved using board games, interactive white boards, and more! Math games are ideal for all learners - don't miss out! PET CARE, DOG Do’s & Don’ts, offered by Mrs. McCreary Day: Monday Grade Level: 3rd – 6th Limit: 12 students Have you always wanted a dog, have your parents told you “you don’t know what you are asking for”!!! Have you said “yes I do”! Or maybe your family is thinking about getting a pet dog but you are not sure how to care for it? Well find out what’s really involved in the handling, nutrition, care, grooming, feeding/vitamins, breeds and health of a pet dog. Each week the club will cover a different topic, along with hand-outs, video clips, group discussion, and more… to help you understand all that is involved in getting a pet dog. 3 RAINBOW LOOM, offered by Mrs. Brieland and Mrs. McCreary Day: Wednesday Grade Level: 2nd – 3rd Grade Limit: 16-18 Students in this club will have fun making the latest fashion statement…Rainbow Loom bracelets, necklaces, and more! If you like to be creative then this is the club for you! Each week students will learn a new pattern and have time to create their own masterpieces. New patterns are still being discovered. Lets have fun discovering them together! (Students will need to bring a Rainbow Loom kit to participate in this club. Additional rubber bands may be needed.) RUNNING CLUB, offered by Mr. Worgess and Mrs. Angelucci Day: Monday Grade Level: 4th – 6th Grade Limit: Unlimited Running club is a club where children will learn about wellness and fitness. They will learn about stretching, go on distance runs, run relay races, and learn about nutrition and healthy habits for the body. We will exercise every session rain (indoors) or shine! SCRABBLE, offered by Mrs. Poedubicky Day: Tuesday Grade Level: 4th – 6th Grade Limit: 12 students Do you enjoy playing games with friends? Show off your vocabulary and spelling skills in Scrabble Club where students will engage in friendly competition while having fun playing this challenging word game. Join this fun club that will cover a different sport each week, such as Soccer, Basketball, Kickball and Handball to name a few!!! Come on out and have a friendly game with your friends in a variety of sports!! Beginners and students of all experience levels are welcome to participate in this club! We will learn fun-filled yoga poses imitating animals and nature by using creative expression. Students may bring a water bottle to class. Students should bring a beach or bath-size towel to class. YOGA, offered by Mrs. Petty Day: Thursday Grade Level: 4th – 6th Grade Limit: 12 students Yoga is a practice that will help your child achieve a calm and focused mind as well as build a strong and flexible body. Beginners and students of all experience levels are welcome to participate in this club! We will learn fun-filled yoga poses by using creative expression, short stories and games. Students may bring a water bottle to class. Yoga mats will be provided. ZUMBATOMIC offered by Ms. DiEleuterio and Mrs. W. Lawrence Day: Wednesday Grade Level: 2nd – 6th Grade Limit: 16 students Zumbatomic - Zumba for kids! Come learn traditional Latin dances mixed with belly dancing an hip hop! It's an exercise program that is a DANCE PARTY!! All you need is a water bottle, sneakers, and a towel! 5
