Undergraduate students should take 12 – 18 credits
Graduate students take 8 – 12 credits or 6 – 12 credits if they have an
assistantship
Course Restrictions
Any capstone, independent study or internship course is restricted for exchange
students.
No clinical placements for nursing, no student teaching placements for
education.
Undergraduate students are not allowed to take graduate classes.
Graduate students make take both graduate and undergraduate classes.
Course approvals are needed in some cases, particularly for upper level courses,
and Architecture and Engineering majors
Medical Coverage/ Insurance
Students are required to purchase a UWM negotiated policy. Fees for insurance
are billed each semester and are approximately $750 per semester.
Airport pick-up service
Available through Panther Pick-Up service for a fee, only on specific days each
semester.
International Student Fee
$100 per semester
Cost of Attendance
All students who study on campus at UW-Milwaukee must pay fees called
Mandatory or Segregated fees. These fees support many campus services such
as the Norris Health Center, the Klotsche Fitness Center, UPASS city bus pass
and more. These fees are approximately $700 a semester and are billed to the
student’s account.

Climate/City Information
Milwaukee has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons and wide
variations in temperatures. The climate is strongly influenced by Lake Michigan.
The coldest month of the year is usually January with temperatures below 0
degrees Celsius, the warmest month is typically July with highs near 30 degrees
Celsius.
