YOUTH MINISTRY CHANGES YOU ARE INVITED For the last two years, Sandra Santucci has been holding down two positions: Director of Worship (75% full-time) and Youth Minister (50% full-time). She needs to cut back on her youth ministry responsibilities and will limit her work with the youth of our parish to coordinating the confirmation program. Effective July, Kate Krieger, our third grade teacher, will assume Sandra's other responsibilities in youth ministry. Jenny Buckingham will continue to coordinate the Sunday morning Religious Education program. We are very fortunate to have these three talented women on our parish staff. Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology and the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana, are collaborating to offer an October 7-9 conference called Women of the Church: Strength of the Past. Hope for Tomorrow. A Catholic Leadership Conference. Open to women and men, consecrated, married, and single, the conference aims to honor and support the work of women in the Church, and to provide space to respond to Pope Francis’s call for “a more incisive female presence” in the Church (Gaudium Evangelii, #103). He will speak on the subject: Celebrating Indiana's Bicentennial: The History of Religion and Constitutional Protections at Statehood. The event is Friday morning, July 15, at the North Side Knights of Columbus. Mass starts at 7am and the program will be finished by 9am. Cost for the program includes a great breakfast and is $15 in advance for members and $21 for non-members. Registration is required. All proceeds support the Joseph Maley Foundation (JMF) mission, “serving children of all abilities.” Whether you are an experienced or novice competitive runner or wheelchair racer, a fitness walker, or looking for a family-friendly Saturday morning activity, this event has something for you. Indiana’s premiere summer road race takes participants on a fantastic course through scenic downtown Indianapolis, starting and finishing at IUPUI’s Michael A. Carroll Stadium Track. Notably, the JMF 5K Run, Walk Roll is the 2016 USA Track and Field 5K Road Race Championship Event. Individuals can elect to take part in the chip-timed 5Krace or enjoy the untimed 1.5-mile course. We offer an elite start option at 8:00 AM for men who can complete the course in under 18:00 and women who can complete the course in under 21:00. The open event will start at 8:30 AM. The top three finishers in each age division will receive prizes. Family friendly activities—including live music, games, a kiddie dash, and complimentary Dairy Queen treats—will be available on site for participants and fans. This joyful celebration will take place on August 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Ss. Peter and Paul Cathedral. Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Msgr. William F. Stumpf and will be followed by a reception across the street at the Catholic Center in Assembly Hall. The event is free of charge, but registration is required.
