Fiery Applications
Fiery Command Workstation
We are pleased to announce the availability of Fiery Command WorkStation 5.3.1.32 for both Macintosh and Windows, as an
update to earlier versions. Command Workstation 5.3 includes several new features.
Interactive Fiery Image Enhance Visual Editor for per image adjustments and corrections to get the perfect print without
additional software or tools needed.
Imposition workflow improvements that make operators more productive.
Usability enhancements that give direct access to more job actions and more control over media for an improved user
experience.
Integration with all Fiery Color Profiler Suite tools to diagnose, compare, create and edit color profiles without leaving
Command WorkStation.
We have also made available the Fiery Extended Applications Package for both Macintosh and Windows. The Fiery Extended
Applications Package (Rel3e) is a single download of the latest Fiery Server applications, including Fiery Command WorkStation
5.3, Fiery Hot Folders 3, Fiery Remote Scan, and (Windows only) Fiery Bridge.
Please review the Installation Requirements for a description of which Fiery applications can be installed on which Fiery Server.
For System 9 and later Fierys, Command WorkStation 5.3 must be installed from the Fiery Extended Application Package. For
System 8 Release 2 and earlier Fierys, the Fiery Extended Applications Package (like the Command WorkStation 5.3 installer)
only installs Command WorkStation 5.3.

Fiery Applications
Fiery Applications and Print Drivers compatibility with Mac OS 10.7
We are currently developing fully supported Fiery print drivers for OS 10.7 with all standard features and functions available in
previous Mac OS versions. We will update you with more information as we get closer to the actual release date.
Now that Apple released the official OS 10.7, EFI is in process to complete evaluating the Fiery applications and print drivers
with Mac OS 10.7 in three different scenarios:
Installation of 10.7 on a clean system, then installing Fiery applications and print drivers
From a 10.6 system with no Fiery applications/drivers, upgrade to 10.7
From a 10.6 system with Fiery applications/drivers, upgrade to 10.7 (Note – we believe this is to be the most common
workflow for the short term as customers upgrade current Apple systems to 10.7.)
Fiery Applications and Mac OS 10.7
EFI has released Mac OS 10.7 compatible utilities including Command Workstation 5.3.1.32 with the Rel3e Fiery Extended
Applications Package. Color Profiler Suite 3.1 adds Mac OS 10.7 compatibility and other enhancements. These products can be
found at the following links.

Fiery Express Driver for Mac OS 10.7
The Fiery Express Driver for Mac OS X 10.7 is available for download by selecting “EFI Software” at
http://services.efi.com/support/drivers/. This is designed to work with any Fiery and includes a simplified PPD with a few
options for convenience, including common paper sizes, duplex, staple, color mode, and composite overprint. Fiery Express
Driver can also be used in conjunction with Virtual Printers for access to more advanced print settings.
We also recommend using other aspects of the Fiery workflow to utilize the full Fiery functionality from a client running 10.7,
including:
Importing saved/exported PDF documents to the Fiery using Hot Folders or CWS and applying Job Property settings
Printing to the Hold queue using the Fiery Express Driver and using CWS to apply Job Property settings
Printing to a Virtual Printer (that has locked settings) using the Fiery Express Driver.

Please contact Ricoh Tech Support for the patches.
Tech note: 2GB RAM upgrade for E-41 and E-41A Pro80 Fiery Controllers
There is a 2GB RAM upgrade available for the E-41 and E-41A Fiery Controllers. This upgrade is recommended for anyone
running large VDP jobs or who is using SeeQuence to manipulate jobs on the FACI.
Tech note: Running Applications on the FACI
While running Fiery applications on the FACI is an expected of usage of any FACI-enabled Fiery controller, it is important to be
aware that running those applications will use hardware resources. This means that if those applications are running while Fiery
is processing or printing jobs, not all hardware resources are available to Fiery. Processing or printing complicated jobs which
tax the Fiery resources may be effected if not all resources are available. Similarly, performing complicated or involved actions
(such as “Preview While Processing”) in the applications will also require more resources and could impact the Fiery
performance.

Tech note: Composite Patch for E-41 and E-81 Fiery Controllers for the C901
EFI has created a roll-up composite patch 1-1DPQMC.exe for the E-41 and E-81 controllers. This patch will be released midFebruary as it is being cut into manufacturing as well. This patch is intended to be installed on top of existing systems but the
new baseline configuration for the E-41 and E-81 controllers is now v1.0 + 1-19Z4WM.exe + 1-1DPQMC.exe. Before installing
any other already-released patches, please confirm that they are not part of either 1-19Z4WM.exe or 1-1DPQMC.exe.
Tech note: New driver installers for System8R2 and System8eR2 Fiery Controllers
EFI has released drivers with PackageMaker-based installers to enable to install them on MacOSX 10.7. These new drivers are
only intended for usage on 10.7 and are a temporary solution to allow additional functionality which is not available in the Fiery
Express Driver. These drivers have the same limitation that existing System9R2 drivers do and will not work in “sandboxed”
applications like TextEdit and Preview.

Current version(s)
Digital StoreFront 5.2
What’s new in Digital StoreFront 5.2
Custom Email Notifications
Instant Email: Digital StoreFront administrators and operators can send email notifications at any time to communicate
with registered Digital StoreFront users or external email recipients from within Digital StoreFront. The Instant Email
Notification page has a rich text editor for formatting messages using fonts, styles, tables, symbol characters, and bulleted
and numbered lists. The Send To section makes it easy to specify message recipients from Digital StoreFront Users and
Groups.
Site- and Company-Level Email Notifications: Email notifications exist at two levels in Digital StoreFront 5.2—at the site
level and at the company level. Site-level email notifications can be configured on the Email Settings page. The companylevel email notifications page can be accessed from the Manage Company page.
Custom Headers and Footers: You can define a custom header and footer for your email notifications in either plain text or
HTML format.
Print Services
Non-Printed File Upload: This print service category enables administrators to create a print service that lets buyers upload
non-content file attachments when ordering products.
Clear Coat: Digital StoreFront 5.2 introduces a new Clear Coat print service. Clear Coat is a finishing or fifth color clear ink
that is an option on Fiery® devices that support clear dry ink output. The Clear Coat print service is a chargeable print
option that buyers can select when ordering products that have a Clear Coat option (defined on the ticket).
Color Mode: Digital StoreFront 5.2 adds a new Color Mode print service that supports 4-color or 8-color print mode
options to enhance support for superwide format (SWF) products. When the print mode is selected on the job ticket (by a
buyer or an operator), the information is passed in JDF format to the appropriate JDF output device. Pricing calculations
for the color mode print service are based on area, which is derived from the final height and width specified in the ticket.
Resolution: To enhance support for superwide format (SWF) products, Digital StoreFront 5.2 adds a new Resolution print
service that buyers can add to a ticket to specify the print quality of a job. The Resolution print service can be expressed on
the job ticket with familiar print quality grades such as Standard, Production, High Quality, Medium, and Low. The
Resolution can be set on the job ticket (by buyers or operators) and is a chargeable service. This print service information
will be passed to the MIS, if appropriate.
Improved Digital StoreFront-Fiery-VUTEk Integration
Digital StoreFront 5.2 provides improved integration with Fiery® XF and VUTEk® printers. Digital StoreFront media are exported
to Fiery XF, which in turn maps them to the VUTEk printer’s media sets based on color mode and resolution. During setup, the
Fiery XF sends the device capabilities of the VUTEk printer and the mapped media list to Digital StoreFront. When Digital
StoreFront sends a job to a Fiery XF connected to a VUTEk printer, the integration results in a seamless workflow in which either
(a) the color mode, resolution, and media are pre-selected (if those configurations are supported) or (b) the operator is
prompted to select a valid color mode and resolution combination. During job production, real-time job and device statuses are
communicated to Digital StoreFront.
Device View
Digital StoreFront 5.2 adds a Device View dialog accessible from a link on the Operator View that enables operators to monitor
and manage the output devices associated with each print shop. The Device View provides a quick, real-time overview of all
devices and links so operators can drill down for information on each print shop (e.g., to see how many jobs are assigned to
each device/print queue in a print shop). The status of each device is displayed to alert operators to any possible issues that
might affect the workflow.
Direct Product and Category Linking ("Deep Linking")
Digital StoreFront 5.2 introduces direct product and category linking (also called “deep linking”). A direct link is a link to the
specific page where the product file or product category is located. The purpose of such “deep links” to product files and

Ricoh Tech Ticker
product categories is to ensure that the product and category remains accessible, for example, after upgrading to subsequent
versions of Digital StoreFront.
DSF Technical Support (Page 2 of 2)
Media: Dynamic Tab Creation
Digital StoreFront 5.2 provides an enhanced set of tools for defining tab stock media. On the Media Catalog > Add New Media
tab, select Tab Stock in the Media Type field and then enter the number of tabs on the media. After you do so, the tab
definition panel (shown below) opens. You then specify the dimensions of each tab in the five Tab Measure fields to define the
tab stock. On the buyer side, the procedure for inserting tabs was improved. For single-page workflow products (Flash-based),
various formatting options are available (font, style, color).
Setting to Permit Buyers to Re-order and Cancel Orders
Buyer order permission settings on the Print Shops page allow administrators to specify when buyers who order products from
that print shop will be able to re-order products or cancel orders (i.e., on the My Order History page on the buyer side).
These settings are in the Buyer Order Permissions field on the Print Shops page, as shown below. The left column shows the
order status.
Merchant Accounts/Payment Processing
Digital StoreFront 5.2 adds support for the PayFlow Pro Hosted merchant account solution, in which all payment processing and
management are handled on the PayPal site (i.e., in the PayPal Manager) but with a front end that you can customize to match
your site (i.e., with a logo, color scheme, etc.). This is a fully PCI-compliant payment processing solution.
Product Ordering Enhancements
Site Map - To give buyers another way to find products, a Sitemap link was added. Buyers can click this link to see a
hierarchical list of categories and products and go directly to a particular product.
Single-Page Workflow - Digital StoreFront administrators can now take advantage of a single-page workflow for ad hoc,
superwide format, and static products. Buyers can select print options; provide their files (unless the product is static, in
which case the files are pre-supplied); and preview their selections all on a single page. Zoom in/out is available when
previewing a product, and multi-page products can be viewed in either spread view or thumbnail view.
Shopping Cart
Due Date - The due date can now be automatically calculated and therefore may not be a required selection.
Numberic Alignment - Monetary figures in the shopping cart are now aligned correctly.
New Checkout Button - The Checkout button is now blue to set it apart from other buttons.
Rush Order Calculations - A new option for calculating rush order turnaround time was added to the Site Settings > Basic
Settings tab.
Handling Charges - Administrators can now specify a handling charge for each order placed either as a fixed amount or as a
percentage of the subtotal for the order. The handling charge is always calculated per recipient.
Turnaround Time Calculation and Display - Digital StoreFront 5.2 lets you choose whether to calculate turnaround time
(i.e., the time required to complete an order under normal circumstances) at either the order level or the product level.
Tech note: Server-Side Requirements
