Dear Mums and Dads

Inset Day-FS, KS1, KS2
Tomorrow, Friday 27th May, is an Inset Day. I hope you all have an enjoyable-and sunny-half
term beak and we look forward to seeing all the children back on Monday 6 th June!

The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration: Friday 10th June-FS, KS1, KS2
On Friday 10th June we will be celebrating her majesty’s 90th Birthday in school. We are asking
that the children wear red, white and blue on the day-or they are very welcome to come in
dressed as ‘royalty’ (kings, queens, princesses etc). During the morning the children will be
making flags and bunting, then in the afternoon we will be having our TPA Street ‘Playground’
Party. From Monday 6th June, there will be a list of party food up on the outside doors to each
classroom and we are asking that either parents or the children sign up to bring a plate of food
for their class.
School Careers Fair-KS1, KS2
On Tuesday 5th July in the afternoon we will be holding our second school careers fair. We have
invited in a number of people from different professions to come and talk to the children about
their jobs. This will be for the children in years 1 – 6. This is something that we intend to do
annually leading to something that the children will do on the day that they meet their new
teacher- talk about what they want to be ‘when they grow up’. We will then talk to the children
about what they might need to do to enable them to get that job when they leave school. It is
all about aspirations and looking at the whole child and their characters. As said we will be
doing this each year and it will be interesting how their aspirations change, if at all.

We would like to have as many different professions represented as possible, so if there is
anyone that would like to come in on the 5th July and talk to the children about their profession
please let the office know as soon as possible. Thank You .
PTA-FS, KS1, KS2
Again, there was a very successful meeting of the PTA on Tuesday evening, with preparations
being put into place for the Summer fair
 The Summer Fair will take place on Saturday 2nd July between 1pm and 4pm.
 Thank you for all the Summer items that came in today for the Summer hampers-some
great ideas again!
 There will be another non-uniform day on Friday 17th June and we are asking that
children bring in bottle donations for the tombola-anything from shampoo to
champagne
 Cake sales will be happening every Wednesday after school so remember to bring in
those pennies
Swimming-KS1, KS2
Weather permitting we will be starting swimming after the half term break. A letter went out
with the last newsletter to let you know what days your child has swimming sessions.
Water Bottles-FS, KS1, KS2
As the weather begins to get hotter we would like to remind children to bring water bottles into
school. We have noticed that there are an increasing number of children bringing drinks other
than water into the classrooms. Children are only allowed water in the classrooms. If they
have anything other than water in their bottles they will not be allowed to drink this in the
classrooms-there are cups and water available in every class to ensure that your child can have
a drink during the day. I thank you for your support in this matter.
Music Lessons in School-FS, KS1, KS2 (REMINDER)
As stated in previous letters, something that has been raised at the parent’s forum a couple of
times is giving children opportunities to learn a musical instrument. Having looked into this we
would encourage you to go onto the West Sussex music website and look at what there is on
offer regarding your child learning a musical instrument and sign them up. We believe that then
they will get in contact with the school to make the arrangements.

The website address is at the top of this letter. If you have not done so already, I would urge
you to visit our website to see photos from trips and events and for general information about
the school. All documents on the school website are available in hard copy from the school
office on request.
Physical Education(PE) -FS, KS1, KS2
Please can you ensure that the children have their PE kit in school. It should come in at the
beginning of the half term and then be sent home on the last day of the half term. PE is an
important part of the curriculum and all children should be taking part. Children will only be
excused from PE if we receive a medical note stating that they are not allowed to take part,
unless there is an obvious physical injury, eg: their arm is in plaster.
School Uniform-FS, KS1, KS2
The new school uniform is on sale on a Monday morning at 9.00am and on a Friday afternoon
at 3.00pm. In the Autumn term we sent out a letter asking if any parents would be interested in
buying just the school badge to sew onto clothes. These are now available at £3.50 each. A
massive thank you to Kirsty Madgwick for giving up her time to sell the uniforms.
Car Services - FS, KS1, KS2
We have set up a link with Rew Auto Services Ltd based in Lavant. Rew is an ex-pupil of the
school and the son of Pam Reed, one of our teaching assistants. Any parents who use their
services will receive 5% off of their bill and the school will receive 1% of any business that

Customer Reward Card.
