In Brief Follow Us! BundyNews Congrats to Will Brady and his partner Sarah on the birth of their first child, Eva Kate - who was a whopper at 9lb 2. Great work guys! Well done to Matt Dowsett, Buddha Massey and Sam Bedggood who are all representing Sale-Maffra at Country Week this week, so far they are 1-1. Issue 17 February 2014 T20 for Louis Some lovely work by Marion Wrigglesworth (accompanied by Neil), who took out the Australia Day dress-up competition in a nifty little number she managed to fit in 50 years earlier! Honourable mentions also to Matt and Tash Dowsett, Jason Langshaw and Adam Cairns for their cozzies! Lachlan Wrigglesworth has played his first A-Grade match, aged 16. Well done Lachie, we are sure it will be the first of many! Matt Dowsett, Buddha Massey, Sam and Dan Bedggood and manager Adam Cairns were all part of Sale-Maffra’s first GCL win in 7 years - great effort. Well done also to Dylan Rowley who was part of the victorious U18 side. It was a good interview by Matty on WINTV the next day also after some hard celebrating! A big crowd rolled up to Bundy on Sunday 9 February for the Louis Looking Forward T20 Charity Match. The match was held for 4 yearold Louis Shepard, son of former Bundy boy David, who is battling Usher Syndrome. Organised by Geoff ‘Gadget’ Abrahall the day featured Bundy taking on Maffra with all proceeds going to the charity. The drawcard of the day was another former Bundy boy, Trav Birt, who flew all the way back from Perth just for the match. It was a very generous effort from Trav, as he had just played in the BBL3 Final on Friday night. Jimma Matthews and Nathan King also turned out for Bundy. Despite windy, smoky conditions the day was a great success with many raffles, some top tucker and a jumping castle. In total, the day raised $5,500 for the charity which was an awesome effort. For the record, Maffra posted about 170-odd with Lanigan and Shepperson getting 50’s and scores were tied with one ball remaining, with a wide being bowled to give Bundy the win. Birt got 81 while Jimma Matthews was the star of the day with 26. A massive thanks to everyone involved, in particular Gadget, Trav, Ken Bailey/Legends, the Maffra Cricket Club and everyone else at Bundy who pitched in and helped. OK, with the finals just around the corner let’s see who will be playing and who will be watching... First XI: Believe it or not the boys haven’t officially qualified yet, and could still miss. Currently 2nd, but must bowl well this weekend, and face a good RK side in the final round. BRONZE SPONSORS Avon Timber & Roofing, B. Nield & A. Pinkus (AB medal) The Race for Joe! Second XI: Currently 7th, and even though they are a strong chance of a big win in the final round, look likely to be spectators this season. With the season almost over, Nick Fowler looks as if he may have stitched up this year’s Joe Hymus, with a whopping 132 last weekend. Nice work trophy-hunter! Third XI: Have qualified, and may yet finish on top. Don’t want to put any pressure on, but are looking like the club’s best chance this season! The award has been presented to the player who scores the highest individual score for the season, and has been awarded since 1993/94. Fourth XI: Are sitting 6th and need to win all their remaining matches to be a chance. If they do get in they will be a big show. U16: Will be playing finals next weekend, most likely against a College side. Go get ‘em boys! It is one of the club’s most prestigious trophies, with some great names having received the award. U14: Have only lost one match all season, and will most likely finish 2nd. Finals also next weekend, probably against Sale City.
