Through this topic the children will learn the

Geography
Locate the Grampian Mountains and describe what they are
like in winter.
Identify key features of a major mountain range.
Compare and contrast mountain ranges on different
continents.
Identify geographical regions and features of UK
(mountains, rivers, coasts, hills)- how they have changed
over time (base on human and physical geography). White
cliffs of Dover.
Identify challenges encountered by pioneers crossing
mountain ranges.
History
Field trip to the Jurassic coast.
Know how the British Empire began and ended.
Explain the importance of some of the Commonwealth
principles.
Explain how regular sporting events have changed over the
years.
Understand the importance of traditional games and sports
to different societies.
Understand why different cultures have developed rules to
help people get along.
Music
Sing music from different cultures and traditions
Compare and contrast different songs.
Write lyrics on a specific theme
Understand musical structure in pop songs.
Learn and perform the Jubilee song ‘sing’
Understand the inspiration behind it.
Develop instrumental skills by accompanying the
performance of ‘Sing’
Art and design
Identify the types of Navajo art.
Record and experiment with some of the Navajo designs.
Design and use a symbol and pattern to represent
