WORLD WATCH LIST PRAYER STATION IDEAS PRAYER GRAB BAG Set Up Instructions: ++ S et out a box with multiple sets of prayer cards for the 50 countries (country name, pic, facts, and ways to pray). You can used a reduced size of the downloadable country fact sheet. Posted Instructions: ++ R each in the box and pull out one card. Spend time bringing this country and persecuted brothers and sisters before the Lord. When finished, take the card with you as a reminder to continuing praying for this country and its people. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” - Ephesians 6:18 MY PIECE OF THE PUZZLE Set Up Instructions: ++ O n a table, set out enough puzzle pieces for the amount of people you are planning to participate in this event. On the table also set out pens or markers that can easily write on the back of the puzzle piece. Posted Instructions: ++ G od has a purpose and plan for each one of his children. Pick up a puzzle piece and hold it in your hand. Pray, asking God what your piece of his puzzle is in standing alongside the persecuted church. Write a reminder of what you hear on the back of the puzzle piece and take it with you as a reminder of how God has spoken to you. Posted Scripture: ++ “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” ++ 1 Corinthians 12:27 FAMILY TREE Set Up Instructions: ++ O n a wall post a large paper image of a tree without leaves. Across the top post, “Family of God.” Prepare leaf cutouts (enough for the number of participants you anticipate and for the 50 World Watch List Countries) on green construction paper. Write 1 name of each World Watch List country a leaf. Attach each of these leaves to the tree. On a table set out the remaining leaves, pens and tape. Posted Instructions: ++ T ake some time to look at your family tree. You have brothers and sisters all over the world. Today we are reminded of our persecuted siblings. Write your name on a leaf and tape it to a branch on God’s family tree. Take some time to pray for your persecuted family. Trace multiple handprints of varying sizes to represent men, women, and children. Inside each handprint write the name of one of the World Watch List countries Posted Instructions: ++ T he handprints below represent the men, women, and children of the persecuted church. Place your hand over one of the handprints and pray for the Persecuted Church of that country. Posted Scripture: ++ “ For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.” – 2 Timothy 1:6-9 LETTER WRITING TO THE PERSECUTED CHURCH (WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT) Set Up Instructions: ++ S et an area with a table and chairs. On the table place a tray marked for receiving completed letters. Also set out blank pieces of lined paper, pencils, pens, markers and crayons. ++ A t the completion of your event, gather all of the completed letters and mail them in one envelope. Please include: – Name of your Church – Name of Pastor – Church address, phone number and email ++ Mail to: – Open Doors USA PO Box 27001 Santa Ana, CA 92799 Posted Instructions: ++ B y writing a letter of encouragement to a persecuted Christian, you remind them that they are not alone and that believers around the world are praying for them. This brings hope, peace and encouragement to stand strong in the face of persecution! ++ HERE ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR WRITING TO A PERSECUTED CHRISTIAN ++ When you have finished your letter, place it in the “Completed Letter” tray and we will mail your letter. – Write a short letter in simple English. – Be sure to keep the letter encouraging, not dwelling on their hardships or what they do not have. – Do not write anything negative about their country or government. – Please do not mention Open Doors or your home address. – Do not include money or other gifts. – Hand-drawn items or notes from children can bring great encouragement as well.
