Regional Centre, ICAR – Central Avian Research
Institute, Bhubaneswar is the only research
station of CARI, Izatnagar. The mandate of
Regional Centre is to study different aspects of
duck production along with its propagation
among the duck farmers of the country. The
regional centre is actively involved in
improvement of duck production through
various institutional and externally funded
projects. The centre has developed a potential
gene pool of ducks for both meat and egg
purpose. A number of technologies w.r.t.
intensive and extensive duck production
practices were developed and tested
successfully in field condition. The farmers were
benefited through adoption of duck production
technologies developed by the institute even in
absence of any pond / water bodies.
This will help in increased egg and meat production ultimately contributing to livelihood and
nutritional security of the society.
The course aims at imparting elaborate
information about scientific duck farming
needed to be practised in small and large scale
by farmers for egg and meat production. Both
theory and practical classes on various aspects
of duck production i.e. breeding, physiology,
management, nutrition, reproduction, health,
economics and marketing will be delivered.
Latest techniques available and recent
developments in this area of science will be
discussed among participants and feedback will
be collected. The sole target of the programme
is to popularise duck rearing among the farming
community for increased egg and meat
production in the sub-continent.
Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha state is
otherwise known as “Temple city” is well
communicated by rail road and air. Regional
Centre, ICAR – Central Avian Research Institute
is situated 10 km away from BBSR railway
station and 8 km away from Airport. The
weather in Bhubaneswar during January is
normally pleasant and enjoyable.
1. Master's Degree in Veterinary Sciences/
Animal Sciences/Poultry Science and allied
sciences.
2. Working not below the rank of Assistant
Professor and equivalent in the concerned
subject under ICAR, allied Institute/
Agricultural / Veterinary University/KVKs.
The objective of the course is to refresh and
update the knowledge of teachers, researchers
and specialists working in SAUs/Veterinary
Universities, ICAR institutes and KVKs regarding
latest innovations in different aspects of duck
production and management.
The boarding, lodging and travel expenses of
selected participants will be borne under
training budget as per ICAR norms. The travel
expenses will be reimbursed on the production
of actual tickets only and will be restricted to a
maximum of II- Tier AC sleeper class of shortest
train or bus route.

 Take a printout of the application and get it
approved by the competent authority of
institute.
 Upload the scanned copy of the application
through the above portal or send dully signed
copy through proper channel to the Course
Director of Short Course by post along with
registration fee.
 The last date of receiving the nomination is
December 10, 2016. The advanced scanned
copy of nomination may be sent by e-mail:

Course Director of Short Course.
 The selected applicants will be informed by
December 15, 2016. The selected candidates
should confirm their participation to the
Course Director positively by December 20,
2016, failing which the candidature will be
cancelled and the vacancy will be filled with
the applicants from waiting list.
The participants are required to pay a sum of Rs
50/- (Rupees fifty only) as Demand Draft/ Postal
Order towards registration fee (non-refundable)

payable at SBI, IVRI Campus branch, Bareilly.
