research projects. She is in charge of
staff payments.
The Doctors’ Wives’ Association
has been responsible for a number of
fund raisers. They have organised
many camps etc. to raise funds for the
poor masses. They have distributed
free exercise books for needy children
in the Colombo District. The Doctors’
Wives initiated a move aimed at saving children from growing up in the
world with a war mentality. This
move, termed Burial of the Gun,” was
connected with giving toys to children. To a question raised by a reader, as far back as in February, 2000, as
to how toy guns affect the mentality of
children, it was decided that children
should not be given toy guns to play
with.
She answered enthusiastically a
few questions I raised:
Q: What is you job as Practice
Manager of the Galkissa Clinic?
R: I work as Receptionist,
Secretary, Practice Manager, also
Research Assistant to my husband.
Q: What are your hobbies and
interests?
R: Writing songs, plays, appreciations, etc. I have written seven skits
which have been acted at Doctors’
Wives’ get-together.
Q: What made you write the song
“This Land Belongs To You”?
R: To promote Peace and Unity
hrissie Aloysius is the wife of
the well known famous senior
Physician, Dr. Dennis Aloysius.
She is a charming personality of
many shades. Having received her
education at Our Lady of VIctories,
Moratuwa, she graduated from the
University of Peradeniya. She proudly
says she is her husband’s stronghold
and has been the Practice Manager of
his Galkissa Clinic since 1960, just
three years after her marriage. Her
achievements are
many. She

sat interviewing her,
she said it was their

Wow!! She had five
children, of whom
she lost one a long
time ago under tragic circumstances.
She has grand-children as well and an

Kim Cattrall got into character by donning a
sexy gunmetal bustier dress (very Samantha
Jones!) by Vivienne Westwood—the same
designer of Carrie's over-the-top wedding
gown in the film. The blonde bombshell hung
out with her castmates at the film's after party
at the Museum of Modern Art, bopping along
to tunes by Madonna and Rihanna, spun by DJ
Samantha Ronson.
EARTHLY DELIGHTS

Jennifer Hudson
"Sex and the City is like a fashion show," said Jennifer Hudson. The Oscar-winning
actress chose her sultry Peter Soronen frock to match the film's mood: "Look at
the top—it's sexy!" she exclaimed. What does the Dreamgirl love most about the
show? "All the ladies are people that every woman can relate to. They spoke
about real things that we all go through." Hudson stars in the film as Carrie’s
assistant, who shares her passion for luxe handbags.
The Hook Up
Richie showed off her
post-baby body (in vintage
Jil Sander) when she helped
boyfriend Joel Madden
celebrate the opening of his
DCMA Collective clothing
store in Los Angeles. "It's so
cool to see this come to life
because this has been Joel's
dream for a very long time,"
Richie has said. "When I was
pregnant I would always
wear Joel's DCMA T-shirts,
but now I'm excited to wear
the girls' stuff.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Arriving with husband Matthew
Broderick by her side, Sarah Jessica Parker
looked stunning in a floor-sweeping
metallic gown by Nina Ricci and jewels
by Fred Leighton. Before the screening
began, she addressed the fashion-loving
fans inside the theater: "We’re bringing
sex back to its rightful owners—New York
City!" The show's co-creator, Darren Star,
only had raves about his executive
producer: "Sarah's just so smart. She’s
sharp and raises the bar for everybody."
Rachel Bilson
The Girls of Sex and the City
New York’s favorite girls brought sexy back to the Big Apple at the
premiere of their long-awaited film, Sex and the City: The Movie at
Radio City Music Hall. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon
and Kristin Davis hit the bright pink carpet, studded with Swarovski
crystals, to kick off the film’s opening on Friday May 30. "The sexiest
part about tonight is being here with all these people," said Parker,
who along with her costars, glittered in a metallic gown.
tive of working towards the improvement of the quality of life of the community, especially in the field of
healthcare, health education, maternal and childcare.
Their association has organised
health camps and eye camps, distributed free medicines, vitamins and
nutritional supplements, etc. They
opened up home-based first aid units
in rural areas and also for the fishing
communities along the coastline.
They assisted victims of the Tsunami
disaster. They selected the coastal
belt, from Ratmalana to Angulana and
Lunawa, where fisher folk had lost
their houses and belongings.
Talking of her family, she said
they were a musical family. I was glad
to bear this as I am a musician myself.
They love piano, guitar, drumming– oriental music as well—so they
are definitely a musical family.
Chrissie has a charming personality
and I must say she has a sweet, smiling face and a very pleasant way of
talking.
She enjoys her work but at the
same time pays a lot of attention to
her husband and her household
chores. She enjoys going out to parties, sing-alongs and dances. Yes, she
too loves fun. Looks like you and I
have the same liking by way of fun!!.
That’s what keeps us going, isn’t it??
Fun is something to look forward to –
and music is something better,
because it is the food of life.
Chanel celebrated the opening of their new
concept boutique on L.A.'s fashionable Robertson
Blvd with cocktails and a silent auction of original
works by acclaimed photographers to benefit The
Global Wellness Institute. "Chanel is classic and
timeless and it makes you feel great and look
great," gushed Rachel Bilson, who joined Leighton
Meester, Michelle Trachtenberg and Angie Harmon
to celebrate the occasion. "The classic Chanel
bag—every girl dreams of it and I'm happy to have
one!"
