Safety at work - Headlines
• Integration of all binary safety-related components in
AS-Interface, such as:
–
–
–
–
Emergency stop
Protective door switch
Safety light barriers/grids
Contactor controls, etc.
• Mixed operation of standard and safety-related
components via the yellow AS-Interface cable
AS-i Training
6
Features of the system
• Can be used up to control category 4 / PLe / SIL 3
• Response time max. 40 ms
• Safe data transmission approved by BIA1 and TÜV2
• Full compatibility with all other AS-Interface components
according to EN 50 295 and IEC 62026-2
• Use of the standard AS-Interface protocol
• Maximum extension of the system with 31 safety slaves
• Stop category 0 or 1 can be selected

Function of the safety slaves
•
Each slave has a specific 8 * 4 bit code table
•
Through a “teach-in“ function the safety monitor reads in the code
tables of all safety slaves
•
During operation permanent comparison of the expected and the
transmitted code tables takes place
•
The system is switched off by the safety monitor when the expected
code ≠ the transmitted code, i.e. when:





A stop is called (0000)
Communication is interrupted
The transmitted sequences are wrong
The safety slave is disrupted
Slave responses are missing or disrupted

17
Function of the safe output
•
A safe output needs a safe address and a A/B-address
•
The voltage supply is made completely out of AS-i
•
The safety unit sends a 7 x 4 code sequence as answer to the master
request – the safe output „hears“ this code sequence and compares
it with the intern code sequence and switches correspondingly
•
Several outputs can have the same safe address but never the same
unsafe address
•
The unsafe address is used for the transmission of diagnosis data is
transmitted or for switching the safe output (after validation by the
safety logic)

Safe
output slave

Master sends request
•
Safety unit answers with safe code sequence
The safe output slave compares the code sequence (that depends
from the slave address) and switches correspondingly
 that means it is possible to have several safe output slaves on
the same safe address

Functions ASIMON 3.0 G2
• New graphical display
–
–
–
–
–
–
Preprocessing is not necessary anymore
Very clear view similar to a circuit diagram
„Old“ view can be selected if needed
Each OSSD is displayed in its own window
Project manager, component manager & device library
SafeLink
It is easier to create, understand and diagnose the
programs

Functions ASIMON 3.0 G2
• Further important innovations
– It is possible to define user devices
– Integration of the AS-i Control Tools in the ASIMONSoftware
– Print functionality
– Support of safety outputs
– Support of coupling slaves
– Support of up to 32 OSSD
– Great improvement of the handling (Copy + Paste etc.)

Device diagnosis
• Diagnosis in plain text at the display
– It is possible to obtain an improved diagnosis directly via the
display even without programming it
– Specialties as e.g. duplicate AS-i address detector, AS-i earth
fault detector and AS-i noise detector are already integrated
– The current status of the safety components
can be displayed as well as the switch off history
 A complete diagnosis is available without
further programming

Device chip card
• Chip card for storage integrated in the device
– Storage of up to 4 different programs
– Very simple change in the functionality possible by only changing
the chip card (PC is not required)
– If you replace the device you will only have to insert the chip
card into the new device
– Operation is also possible without chip card
 In case of failure the downtime is reduced
drastically
