Summarize the Whiskey Rebellion – The national government placed a tax on whiskey to
raise revenue to pay off debt from the American Revolution. Angry farmers rose up in
rebellion and Washington raised an army and put down the rebellion before any serious
damage could be done.
Effect of the Whiskey Rebellion – It showed that the national government was strong and
would use force to ensure that order was kept.
