PROGRAMME FOR THE PATRON SAINT FIESTA IN PEGO
Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd June
All day long EXHIBITION: “Tir i arrosegament” takes place at the San Antonio
Road: this is a typical local competition which consists in overloading a pony.
The pony which is able to carry the more weight wins.
Saturday 22nd June
9.00 am – 6.00 pm SPORTS: Soccer tournament between lower categories,
Pego CF, FB Verger, FB Dénia, Valencia CF and Villareal CF.
Place: Soccer field Cervantes de Pego
1.00 pm COMPETITION: III EDITION OF PAELLAS DE LES ARRAPADES.
Paellas tasting competition, only the members of the moor filà Arrapades.
Place: Paseo Reina Sofía
8.00 pm THEATER: THEATER GALA (groups from Pego and the region)
Ticket: 5 € to collect funds for the poor children in Peru
Place: Theater in Pego
8.30 pm MUSIC: CORNETS AND DRUMS CONCERT COFRADÍA ECCE- HOMO
Place: Plaça Ecce- Homo de Pego
10.30 pm MUSIC: Concert ORFEÓN DE PEGO (choir)

11.00 pm MUSIC: Rock night with Txarango, Aspencat, Smoking Souls and
Vertigen.

CELEBRATIONS IN THE NAME OF SAINT CHRISTOPHER
8.30 am Wake-up: firecrackers are lit to wake up the whole town.
11.30 am Mass in honour to Saint Christopher in Assumption church.
After Mass: classic vehicles’ parade: Paseo Miguel Samper “Michel”, street
Dénia, Fontilles, Sant Rafael, Sant Carles, Sant Marc, Sant Joan, Pere Sala,
Paseo Cervantes, Pla de la Font.
7.00 pm MUSIC: Musical Circuit by “LA VILA VELLA”
Musical walk by different streets in the village, to show different ways to listen
and know our music.
10.30 pm ENTERTAINMENT: Variety show with magician Yunke, and
performance by Rebeca Moscardo and Hector, participants from the last
spanish edition of The Voice, and the comedian Tio Blas.

It includes many recreational activities to entertain children

5.00 pm The Association of traders will make different activities and will have
special timetable.
6.00 pm Children performance “Cuentos Contados”. Entertainment with
fantastic characters: a dragon, a knight and a lot of surprises, where Lucky,
the main character, will involve everybody.

7.30 pm PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK: “La música en valencià. Dels
repertoris tradicionals als gèneres moderns”, author Josep Vicent Frechina

Pego, in charge of Center for Walking Pego
10.30 pm MUSIC: Representation of the musical “La vuelta al mundo en 80
minutos”, with Marc Pons from Pego

9.00 am – 1.00 pm RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES: Ecce-Homo sculpture will be
presented, the most emblematic monument in Pego, in the Chapel.
11.00 am – 2.00 pm ACTIVITIES: SECOND DAY OF THE CHILDREN
Place: Paseo Cervantes
1.00 pm DANCE: Typical Spanish Dance of vermouth with Balla2 (jotas,
mazurcas, tarantelas, paso dobles...)
Place: Plaza de la Quintana
6.00 pm MUSIC: Marching band “la Banda de Cornetes i Tambors” will
perform downtown
7.30 pm RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES: “Solemn vespers” at the sanctity Ecce-Homo
chapel.
Then processional marching in honour of Ecce-Homo Pego’s patron saint:
Ecce-Homo, Capitán Cendra, Sant Jaume, Sant Agustí, Plaza Mayorazgo
Cendra, Plaza del Ayuntamiento and chapel.
8.00 pm MUSIC: Concert “La Clandestina”

ECCE HOMO’S DAY. LOCAL HOLIDAY
8.00 am In honour of Ecce-Homo the bells will be massively rung to wake up
the whole town.
11.30 am Eucharist solemn celebration.
1.00 pm Mascletà in Plaza del Ayuntamiento: this tradition is typical from the
Valencia region. Mascletà consists in lighting a high amount of powerful
firecrackers so as to create a pyrotechnical show.
7.00 pm Repartiment de la Murta: murta is a plant that will be spread all over
the itinerary the Ecce Homo brotherhood is to follow to execute the marching
in honour of Ecce-Homo.
9.00 pm Solemn procession: marching in honour of Ecce-Homo: Plaza del
Ayuntamiento, Plaza Mayorazgo Cendra, Ramón y Cajal, Camilo Pérez, Jaume
I, Major, Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Ecce-Homo and chapel. Afterthat, fireworks,
in Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
11.00 pm MUSIC: Concert from Friends of “LA MANTA AL COLL”, with Toni de
l’Hostal, Trilogy, Lilit i Dionís, A Pèl, Blat and Lady Ma Belle
Place: Multi-activity area “La Trilladora” , street Benitubes

Thursday 27th June
10.00 am SPORTS: Duatlon. Test combination athletics and swimming, every
young person can sign up.
Place: Indoor Swimming Pool
Organizes: Swimming club
From 11.00 am FESTIVITIES: The representatives of Junta Central will visit
the different cabilas (Moorish and Christians houses) to make official the start
of the fiesta of Moorish and Christians.
12.00 pm MUSIC: Verbena, in the street Sant Carles with the orchestra

Friday 28th June
7.30 pm XXI CHILDREN PARADE OF MOORISH AND CHRISTIANS
It will start with Moorish and then Christians.
Itinerary: streets Sant Miquel, Capita Cendra, Sant Jaume, Sant Agustí to Pla
de la Font.
8.00 pm SPORTS: Match between Veterans from Pego FC and Veterans from
Oliva FC

Itinerary: streets Sant Miquel, Capità Cendra, Sant Jaume, Sant Agustí to Pla
de la Font.
At the end of the children parade, music bands representing Moorish sing
“SISCO” from Daniel Ferrero, and Christian perform “LA CREU DAURADA”
from Francisco Valor.
During the night in a different cabilas will have verbenas (a typical music
party)
Saturday 29th June
9.00 am EXHIBITION: Water rescue with dogs, organized by Acció Urgent and
Formasem
Place: in the River Bullent (in Pego-Oliva Marshlands)
8.30 pm MOORISH ENTRANCE
Itinerary: streets Carolina Sala, Sant Jaume, Sant Agustí, Pla de la Font,
Paseo Cervantes.
Order of the parade: Filá Al-Garrapets, Filá Beduines, Filá Coscolls, Filá Al
Hagamba Muza, Filá Feixucs, Filá Alaçdrach, Filá Ha Ben Sahines.
11.00 pm EXHIBITION: Night rescue, simulated accident. By Acció Urgent and
Formasem
Place: School Cervantes
12.00 pm MUSIC: Verbena, with the orchestras PATO DANIEL and CRASH.
Place: in Cervantes municipal sports center
Sunday 30th June
9.00 am EXHIBITION: Vertical rescue by the Raco de Boja (turn of Les Aigües
road Pego to Oliva)
From 10.00 am SPORTS: Exhibition of airplane with radio control, war
airplanes, acrobatic airplanes.
Place: Cervantes stadium
Organized: Club Radio Control Marina Alta
12.00 am Informal parade in the streets of Pego, until get together about 1.00
pm to Pla de la Font, where filàs will give snack with cold drinks.
8.30 pm CHRISTIANS ENTRANCE
Itinerary: streets Carolina Sala, Sant Jaume, Sant Agustí, Pla de la Font,
Paseo Cervantes
Order of the parade: Filá Conqueridores, Filá Arrapades, Filá Albardins, Filá
