The section of route between Brighton and Hurstpierpoint/Hassocks,
which ran on Saturdays only, no longer operates. Metrobus services 270,
271 and 273 offer alternative facilities over this section of route.
Compass Travel
With one exception (please see below) the full service 37 timetable will
continue to run as at present. Brighton & Hove City Council is providing
financial support to ensure the continuation of the service to Bristol Estate
– and all early morning, evening and Sunday journeys throughout the full
length of the route.
Compass Travel
To improve reliability of the afternoon and evening peak service, the
‘short’ journeys at 4.05pm from Meadowview to Lewes Road - and
4.15pm from Lewes Road Sainsbury’s to Meadowview - will be withdrawn.
This is because of delays to the service caused by traffic conditions in the
late afternoon, which impact on the reliability of subsequent journeys.

This service will be withdrawn. Metrobus services 270, 271, 272 and 273

The two morning 56 and 56E schoolday journeys, between the city centre
and Blatchington Mill School/Hove Park School, will be combined to run as
one journey. The bus will start from Imperial Arcade at 7.45am, calling at
Brighton Station stop E 7.50am, Seven Dials 7.52am, Nevill Road 8.02am
and will then run via the 56E route to Blatchington Mill (8.06am) and
Hove Park Lower School (8.11am). All stops along the route will be
served on request.
Surveys have shown that there is adequate capacity on one bus for all
who wish to travel on these schoolday only journeys, and that the new
combined route will cater for all journeys currently being made.
Combining the two journeys will resolve current reliability problems on
service 56E.
