GLORIFICATION OF MARY
Mary, the mother of the Lord, is the most revered woman in the Bible. Her
journey is unique among everyone who has ever lived. She was never a ‘sinless’
saint. She had her share of CRINGEWORTHY moments.

Acts 1:14
I believe in the love of all mothers, and its importance in the lives of the children they bear. It is
stronger than steel, softer than down, and more resilient than a green sapling on the hillside. It
closes wonds, melts disappointments, and enables the weakest child to stand tall and straight in
the fields of adversity. I believe that this love, even at its best, is only a shadow of the love of God,
a dark reflection of all that we can expect of him, both in this life and the next.
And I believe that one of the most beautiful sights in the world is a mother who lets this greater
love flow through her to her child, blessing the world with the tenderness of her touch and the
tears of her joy.
- John Killinger, Lost in Wonder, Love, and Praise
The BEST way to honor your mother today is to
trust Jesus and follow Him!
LIFENotes
Week of May 10
Luke 2:48-50
When you read the wisdom of Proverbs 22:6, what does that
mean to you? As a parent how do you implement your
understanding of this proverb?
Quick Review
Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching,
Cringe: Mary, was there anything that particularly caught
your attention challenged, or confused you?
Getting to Know You
How are you most like your mother?
Mark 3:33-34
What do you see as the “main” role of a parent? How does
this role change? Support your answers with scripture.
Why is this a good thing? Not so good thing?
Digging Deeper
Luke 1:30-35
Share with your group a time when you were an “unlikely
choice” for a God-sized assignment. How did fear play a part
in this experience? How did God’s favor encourage you
through it?
Luke 2:34-35
What are your expectations for your children? How does our
culture influence your expectations? How does God’s Word
influence your expectations? How do these expectations
change?
John 19:25-26
Take a moment and consider the joys of parenting to be
celebrated. Share with your group.
Taking It Home
In Acts 1:14 we see Mary as a devoted prayer warrior for the
saints. Take the time to pray for the children of your group.
