February 28 - March 14, 2010
YOUR SHIP, THE CELEBRITY INFINITY
For six years in a row, Conde Nast Traveler Magazine has named the Celebrity fleet the
very best afloat and the Infinity ranks among the most luxurious resorts in the world, on
land or sea. A premium Millennium class ship, it is characterized by strict attention to
detail at every level. You may relish award-winning cuisine in the SS United States
Restaurant or dine alfresco at the Ocean View Café and Grill. Or enjoy the Trellis
Restaurant after a toast in the Martini or Champagne Bars. Rejuvenate in the Aqua Spa,
swim in the Breezes Pool, then sip coffee in Cova Café di Milano. If you are feeling lucky,
try the Fortunes Casino. From your first glimpse of the impressive Grand Foyer to your
late night entertainment in the Celebrity Theatre, you’ll never be at a loss for an
opportunity to be pampered and indulged. Add to this ocean and land views which
know no equal. Celebrity Infinity fulfills a passenger’s dream of comfort, splendor, and
style.
YOUR ITINERARY
Feb 28: Your adventure begins in beautiful cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, Argentina. Settle
in to your comfortable stateroom, explore the Infinity, or go ashore to enjoy Puerto
Madero, the city’s oldest port which has been transformed into a vibrant restaurant and
boutique center. Spend your first restful night on board in port.
March 1: A day in Buenos Aires, and you choose how you would like to discover this
exciting city known as the Paris of the South. Birthplace of the Tango, it is also a
business center rich in charm and culture. Explore the opera houses, museums, and
cathedrals that rival any in Europe. Take a sight seeing tour, watch a cooking
demonstration, or attend a gaucho festival then arrive back on board, ready for a 6:00
PM sailing.
March 2: An overnight cruise down the Rio de la Plata brings you to Montevideo,
Uruguay, a walking city with open-air cafes and European-inspired squares. For a
fascinating look into cowboy life, South American style, you might visit an Estancia
working ranch after touring the highlights of Montevideo. Choose to tour Colonia del
Sacramento, a World Heritage site, enjoy a wine tasting, or simply wander lovely
Montevideo, where you are never more than a taxi ride away from a museum, art
gallery or theater.
March 3: After a short overnight sail, an early morning docking puts the Infinity in
Punta Del Este, Uruguay, a favorite playground of the rich and famous. Punta Del Este
lives up to its designation as the Saint Tropez of Latin America. You may decide to take
a sightseeing tour of this upscale resort, visit some of Punta Del Este’s museums, take a
six mile boat ride to Sea Wolves Island to view the largest non-migratory sea lion colony
in the world, or simply enjoy twenty miles of sandy beaches. By the time you are back
on board and dining in style, this evening, the Infinity is once again underway, heading
south.
March 4: You are at sea, today, as the Infinity glides past the coast of Argentina, giving
you the opportunity to enjoy your luxurious ship and all it has to offer. Sleep in, swim,
socialize, exercise, dine, explore a good book or simply settle into a lounge chair and
relax!
March 5: Welcome to Puerto Madryn, the gateway to Patagonia. Here you may explore
one of the more unique ecosystems on the planet. The Andean national parks and the
Peninsula Valdes are also within reach. Today’s options are limitless; get an up-close
view of black cormorant, Antarctic gull, penguin or sea elephant colonies off the coast,
visit a nature preserve, tour a Patagonian ranch, or go whale watching before returning
to the luxurious comfort of the Infinity and an evening departure.
March 6: Today the remarkable, glacier dotted landscape between Puerto Madryn and
Cape Horn passes by as you sail along the southern coast of Argentina. It’s an awe
inspiring cruise with outstanding vistas. You might want to intersperse your viewing
with exceptional meals, visits to the pool, gym, library or movie theater. Whatever your
inclination, the Infinity and her crew stand ready to indulge your every whim on this
day at sea.
March 7: While enjoying a superb breakfast, your ship will continue along the coast,
giving you a personal view of some of the most remarkable scenery on the continent. In
late afternoon the Infinity will cruise Cape Horn, Chile, where the mighty Pacific and
Atlantic oceans meet. Horn Island is the southernmost point of the Tierra del Fuego
archipelago and of all the Americas as well. Wildlife is abundant, and an onboard
naturalist will point out the highlights of this diverse ecosystem before the ship
continues on her way to Ushuaia, the last port of call in Argentina.
March 8: Surrounded on three sides by towering peaks, the Eden that is Ushuaia,
Argentina is, surprisingly, a former penal colony. Your opportunities to explore today
are endless. You may want to take a 4 X 4 trail ride to the Carabajal Valley or board a
catamaran to explore the Beagle channel, a penguin rookery or the Eclaireau archipelago.
Visiting Tierra del Fuego National Park, trekking in the Tierra Mayor Valley, riding a
train at the end of the world or crossing the Fuegian Andes to visit the first penal
buildings are more possibilities. Do all this amid scenery that Darwin found spectacular.
You will, too.
March 9: The Infinity continues to the southernmost point on the contiguous South
American continent, Punta Arenas, Chile, overlooking the Strait of Magellan and Otway
Sound. Here reside colonies of sea lions and Magellanic penguins. Punta Arenas is one
of the few places on earth where you can snow ski while looking out over an ocean.
More varied opportunities to explore await; a sheep shearing exhibition, kayaking in the
Strait of Magellan, a city and museum tour, or trekking in a forest reserve. And as
always, you come back at the end of the day to a magnificent dinner and evening of
excellent entertainment.
March 10: Today the Infinity cruises the famed Strait of Magellan. This 360-mile strait
isolates the Tierra del Fuego archipelago from the rest of the South American continent.
You'll retrace Ferdinand Magellan's route of 1520 as you make the shortest crossing from
Atlantic to Pacific south of the Panama Canal. Until the Canal was finished in 1914, the
Strait of Magellan was the only safe way to move between the two oceans. Once again,
the countless amenities of the Infinity are yours to enjoy as your ship navigates this
beautiful passage.
March 11: With its almost 1,000 miles of islands, channels and fjords, the Chilean fjords
are comparable in size to the expansive fjord coastline of Norway. This incredibly
beautiful part of the country is a magnificent collection of lakes, snow-capped volcanoes,
dense forests and thermal springs. You'll want to bring your camera because in addition
to the spectacular scenery, the Chilean fjords are extraordinarily rich in marine, bird and
wildlife including the world's largest birds: condors, albatross, and giant petrels. The
Infinity continues to cruise north to Puerto Montt, Chile.
March 12: You dock today in the idyllic setting of Puerto Montt, Chile. Surrounded by
national parks, lakes and mountains, it is easy to understand why people come here to
enjoy the outdoors, South American style. You might sip fine Chilean wine and enjoy
some sausages on a lake shore after a few hours of testing your fly casting skills. You can
visit a museum, cruise a lake, see a volcano, or go river rafting. How you spend your
day in this wonderfully picturesque area is your choice. Then it’s back on board for an
evening departure as the Infinity continues north.
March 13: More dramatic scenery awaits as you enjoy another full day at sea. Take
advantage of all the ship has to offer or simply be awed once more by another day of
mind-boggling scenery. This evening, participate in the excitement of events celebrating
the Infinity’s last full day at sea, giving you the opportunity to say goodbye to friends,
old and new. By morning you will have docked in Valparaiso, Chile.
March 14: The adventure still continues as you awake in Valparaiso, a city which seems
to hang precariously on precipitous cliffs. Crisscrossed by narrow, twisting footpaths,
stairways, and the time-tested rapid transit system of funicular cars, it is a city ripe for
exploring. You may take a tour of this port city, visit museums, enjoy a winery visit, tour
the countryside before a delightful luncheon, or take a city tour of Santiago, the nation‘s
capitol. Most shore excursions on this last day end at the Santiago airport where you
will board your return flight to the US.
Should you wish to stay longer in Chile or elsewhere in South America, arrangements
can be made for you to do so.
