*********************** THE VITAL YEARS ***********************
********************* PRE NURSERY SCHOOL *******************
As parents we are amazed at the learning processes that our infants master from birth: feeding, walking, talking are all milestones that we treasure as our children gain each skill. We delight in, and nurture, all these
early steps and by the age of three see young people developing in every
way. What now? The pre-school education years, three to rising five, are
equally as vital as the first three, a time when, with the correct environment, stimulation and guidance, a child will develop socially, intellectually
and physically and be ready for full-time education.
Open every morning 9.am to 12 noon. Small group with high staff ratio,
dedicated to early learning through play. Available to children aged from
18 months prior to entering main Nursery School at 2 years 6/9 months.
This is a very valuable and positive introduction to early education.
************************ THE GREENERY ************************
The Greenery is a well established nursery school, with an excellent reputation located in Swanmore Village Hall. It has excellent facilities and fully qualified staff. A high adult to child ratio is kept, with a carefully
planned curriculum. The welfare, happiness and security of the children
are at all times our main concern, together with the educational development of each child.
At the Greenery it is our aim to provide a happy, stimulating and structured day. Throughout the formative years it is essential that children develop self expression, self control and intellectual skills. In this disciplined
yet flexible atmosphere all children will learn and grow to their full potential. Our Ofsted Report will confirm our ongoing success in all areas of pre
-school education. We uphold a policy of non-discrimination, as endorsed
by Social Services.
******************** THE SCHOOL ROUTINE ********************
Each day will begin with self-registration, followed by a short ’news’/class
discussion time, with the children divided into age-appropriate groups.
The children will then be divided into small groups and will participate in
various activities related to all the early learning goals, with time for stimulated discussion and encouragement of cohesive enquiry and sustained
thinking. These activities will be a balance of child initiated and adult led
experiences.
During the school week the following activities are also time-tabled: PE,
music and movement, drama, singing, rhythm, poetry, art, craft, IT and
games. Time will be given on a daily basis to the development of fine and
large motor skills. Outdoor play takes place in our play area.
There will be a morning break which the children self-regulate, for a drink
and fruit/vegetables – the children are offered milk or water. All children
will be introduced to the 1.2.3 & Away Reading Scheme as part of the language and literacy programme and any children who indicate readiness
will be taught reading.
Each day will end with a quiet time and a prayer.
*********************** COFFEE MORNINGS *********************
Each half term there is a coffee morning, this is an opportunity for parents to view
their children’s work and discuss in an informal way, their progress. I am always
available to speak to parents should they have any worries or concerns. Parents are
encouraged to be involved at all times with their child’s education and join in with
helping in school (an invaluable asset to the school).
************************* SCHOOL RULES ************************
For safety of the children the following procedures should be adhered to:





Cars should be parked in the car park
All children should be accompanied in through our dedicated entrance at the side of the building
Parents should wait here at the end of their child’s session
The school must be notified if a child is to be collected by anyone
other than one of the parents. Please use the ‘Child Collection’ book.
Notification of absence, where possible, would also be helpful.
For continuity and educational development, the children should
attend for a minimum of three mornings per week.
************************ SCHOOL TIMES ************************
Monday and Wednesday – 9.00 am to 3.00 pm
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – 9.00 am to 12.00 midday
**************************** ILLNESS ****************************
Any child who has an infectious illness, sickness or diarrhoea, should be
kept away until symptoms have cleared (48hrs.) or a doctor has given permission for the child to return to school. Should a child be taken ill during
the day, every effort will be made to contact the parents. In the event of an
emergency, the school reserve the right to take a child directly to hospital.
************************* SCHOOL FEES *************************
Full fees are required for each term and become payable on the first day of
each term. A term’s notice is required when a child is due to leave, otherwise full fees are payable for the term.
There are no refunds for illness or holidays taken during the school term.
