Though Word of Life Camps are fun and full of energy, they
are about so much more than just summer fun. Our camps
are designed to create experiences that allow youth and
families to connect with God in new ways, no matter where
they are in their spiritual journeys. Every year we see
incredible life change at camp as students are introduced to
Christ, people grow in their faith and individuals and families
grow closer to God and one another.

CHAOS
DANIELLE’S STORY
W
hen Danielle received an invitation to attend a Word of Life
Camp, she had no idea what to expect. Although her home
life was broken and her father was an alcoholic, both of her
parents still supported her decision to go to camp, knowing it may be a
once-in-a lifetime opportunity for the young girl.
During camp, Danielle experienced genuine, healing love for the first time in
her life. As she discovered truth, she slowly began allowing the Lord’s love
to soothe and heal her battered heart.
When camp ended, Danielle still had to return to a home life that was
destructive. In fact, soon afterward, her parents split in an ugly divorce.
Danielle’s mother moved across the country, and her father was admitted
to the hospital where his health deteriorated.
But still Danielle held on to her faith. Danielle watched in amazement as her
newfound faith spread throughout her family and made a huge impact on
her father. Before he passed away, he even accepted Christ as his Savior!
Some years later, Danielle returned to the Word of Life Camp she had
attended as a young girl. That time, she felt a different kind of impact and
realized that, despite her faith, she had still been living for herself rather
than for Christ.
So she sought out ways to live for Christ and made the decision to attend
the Word of Life Bible Institute. For the next two years, Danielle dove into
learning and began truly searching after the Lord. There she cultivated a
passion for serving the local church and ministering to other young girls
who came from similar backgrounds as she had experienced.
Today, the Lord has taken Danielle into opportunities and places she could
never have imagined as she serves alongside her husband at Word of Life
New Zealand to reach other hurting people for Christ—all because she
followed His prompting during a summer camp.

THE LIFE
FROM SUNRISE TO SUNSET, WE STAY BUSY!
A day at Word of Life Camps is a lot of things…but one thing it’s certainly
not is boring. From the minute you wake up until the minute your head
hits the pillow, you’ll be surrounded by new friends and caring counselors,
growing in your faith, having the time of your life and building memories in
your new favorite place on earth. While no two days are the same, your
week at camp will be filled with nonstop fun and plenty of “make your day”
moments that keep you coming back year after year.

evenings at camp offer a whole

Bible Hour, you’ll go deeper into
the Word with another time of
engaging worship and teaching.
And after dark, the fun
continues with each night

night, lip sync battles, concerts,
campfires, beach parties and
crazy games.

Located just outside Tampa, this tropical paradise supplies loads of
fun in the sun with exciting activities and easy access to some of
Florida’s best beaches and attractions. Make your vacation count for more
with God-glorifying worship, engaging biblical teaching and life-giving
fellowship that launches your faith and helps you grow closer to God and

OUR COUNSELORS
WHAT MAKES WORD OF LIFE COUNSELORS UNIQUE?
All of our camp counselors have completed at least one year at the Word
of Life Bible Institute, an accredited postsecondary program offering
intensive Bible study and ministry training. Not only are they specially
trained for camp ministry, they are equipped with in-depth biblical
knowledge and spend daily time in the Word. Each counselor has learned,
signed and abides by our child protection policy and is committed to
providing a safe and fun environment in which each camper can flourish.
Not only do our counselors help each student have a blast, they are there
to care for and mentor them, answer questions and encourage them in
their faith.
Because we believe life change happens most effectively through
relationship, our counselor to camper ratio is low, giving counselors the
opportunity to connect with each camper in a meaningful way.

YOUTH CAMPS
Word of Life Youth Camps offer overnight camping experiences for
students ranging from elementary school to high school. Our children’s,
middle school and teen programs are tailored to the needs of different age
groups, and our dedicated counselors and challenging speakers
encourage students to grow in their faith.
DAY CAMP
Want to attend camp, but don’t want to stay overnight?
We have Day Camps available at both our elementary and middle school
camps — perfect for local families or students who prefer to sleep in the
comfort of their own homes. You will get all the same amazing activities,
awesome counselors, engaging Bible sessions and summer memories as
overnight campers. In fact, day campers participate in camp right alongside
our overnight campers – the only difference is where you sleep. Join us
for a week or for the whole summer; there’s nothing better than waking up
each morning and heading out for another day of action-packed,
spiritually-forming fun!

Give elementary students the chance to begin their adventure and launch
their faith in a safe, fun camp environment. Children discover biblical truth

Venture into The Wild, where middle school students will explore and grow

to learn biblical truth while playing paintball, riding horses, boating,
climbing the tower, making new friends and much more. At The Wild,

Housed on a 49-acre island in the middle of Schroon Lake, Word of Life
Island is a teen camp like no other. During a week on The Island, teens will
have the adventure of a lifetime, make new friends and encounter God.
High-energy activities, including ropes courses, boating, paintball, sports,
climbing walls, a 200-foot waterslide and much more, will make this a
summer students will never forget! Meanwhile, students will hear from
engaging speakers, experience dynamic worship, be encouraged by godly

ALL THE DETAILS YOU NEED
CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE
Regardless of the camp that you choose, the Registration process stays
the same. Upon arrival, find the Start Here tent, and, from there, Word
of Life representatives will guide you through the rest of the process to
register your child. Pickup will take place on the following Saturday morning
from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
COMMUNICATION
At our youth camps, we don’t allow campers to bring any kind of electronic
device, including cell phones. We do this to help each child and teen be
fully present in all the activities and learning opportunities.
We ask that parents limit all calls to youth camps to emergencies only. In
the event that an emergency arises, you can reach the camp offices: The
Island 518.532.2581 The Ranch and The Wild 518.494.1300. We will relay
the message to your child and have him/her return your call.
We do encourage parents to send mail or emails to their kids. To reach
your child via email, simply send it to [email protected], [email protected] or
[email protected] with your child’s name in the subject line. We’ll print out
the email and deliver it to your child! To send mail, use the following

HEALTH
To promote the health of all Word of Life Camps, we have nurses on duty
24 hours a day and accommodate all prescription needs and allergies. In
the event that your child is injured while at camp, every measure will be
taken to contact you and the emergency contact before any medical
decisions are made. For more information on our Health Center and our
health policies, visit wol.is/camperhealth.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
We strive to provide a safe and wholesome atmosphere at each Word of
Life Camp. Each camp has uniformed and plainclothes security officers
who control access to the camp, patrol throughout the camp, and respond
to emergencies. All camp staff, counselors, volunteers and vendors have
been screened through a criminal background check and have received
training in child abuse protection.
Campers are supervised by counselors at all times and may only be picked
up from camp by persons designated at Registration. At The Island, we
have a baggage check policy to search all camper bags for prohibited

BRINGING YOUR YOUTH GROUP TO CAMP
GROUP ACCOMMODATIONS
We can accommodate groups of any size, and we do our best to make
sure that your entire group stays together and is housed together. We also
have plenty of space for you to park your buses or vans during your week
at camp.

YOUTH LEADER ACCOMMODATIONS
As a youth leader, you get to choose to be as involved in the activities as
you wish. We have designed youth camp so that you can drop off your kids
and enjoy a week to yourself or join in on all the fun for the entire week. All
sessions and activities are run by Word of Life staff members, but you are
welcome to join in.
All youth leaders stay at The Lodge or The Pines. Leaders with groups at
The Island can stay at The Island Group Housing for $200 a week including
all meals.
Accommodations for youth leaders are available and can be set up by
calling Customer Service at 518.494.6000. Upon check-in, a Word of Life
representative will provide you with directions on your lodging and meals
for the week.
