The London Eye or The Empire State Building?
(reading comprehension)
The London Eye
The London Eye, the largest observation wheel in the world, was created to celebrate the
new millennium. The project took six years, hundreds of workers from five European
countries helped to complete it. The London Eye was built and is operated by British
Airways. The wheel does not stop, so people can get on or off at any time. One turn of the
wheel takes about 30 minutes and during the ride riders can see up to 25 miles in any
direction. The view from the Eye, which is 150 m high, is magnificent.
The Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is one of New York´s main tourist attractions. It was built in
1930-31 and for over 40 years was the tallest building in the world at the height of 381
metres. It is located in central Manhattan on Fifth Avenue, between 33 rd and 34th Streets.
The observatory on the 86th floor, 320 metres above the heart of Manhattan, offers a
breathtaking panoramic view. On a very clear day, visitors can see as far as 320 kms.
