The new plans with benefits for Jio
Prime members is aimed at encouraging subscribers to "live the digital life
without restrictions", Jio said in a
statement.
"Considering the special benefits
that are available to Jio Prime members, customers who were unable to
subscribe to Jio Prime for any reason,
can continue to do so by paying Rs
408 or Rs 608 (Jio Prime + recharge
price) to avail these benefits," the
statement added.
Objecting to the offer, incumbent
Bharti Airtel hoped that the "authority (TRAI) will act against this provocative disregard of their direction".
The move by Jio comes within a
week of TRAI asking the Mukesh Ambani telecom company to withdraw its
contentious three-month 'complimentary' offer of unlimited data usage and
free calls on payment of a minimum Rs
303. TRAI, on April 6, had asked Jio to
stop the 'complimentary' service offer
saying it was not in accordance with
the regulatory framework. (IANS)
No compensatory
tariff for Tatas,
Adanis: SC
NEW DELHI: The Supreme
Court on Tuesday rejected
the plea for compensatory
tariff by Tata Power and
Adani Power Ltd for the additional costs that they
were incurring on raised
prices of the coal they were
importing from Indonesia
for their power plants in
Gujarat.
The bench of Justice
Pinaki Chandra Ghose and
Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman said: "The doctrine of
frustration cannot apply to
these cases as the fundamental basis of the PPAs remains unaltered. Nowhere
do the PPAs state that coal
is to be procured only from
Indonesia at a particular
price."
Speaking for the bench,
Justice Nariman ruled: "In
fact, it is clear on a reading
of the PPA as a whole that
the price payable for the
supply of coal is entirely for
the person who sets up the
power plant to bear. ... an
unexpected rise in the price
of coal will not absolve the
generating companies from
performing their part of the
contract for the very good
reason that when they submitted their bids, this was a
risk they knowingly took."
The power generating
companies had sought
compensatory tariff after
coal imported from Indonesia witnessed a steep hike
follow change in their laws
in 2010 and 2011 by which
the export price of coal was
aligned with international
market price.
This changed prices that
were prevalent for last 40
years. (IANS)

Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers, in a clash largely dominated, both in possession
and in chances created, by
India.
India dominated right
from go and maintained their
form in defence, whilst being fluid in attack. In the 5th
minute, India had a golden
opportunity to take the lead
but Bala Devi failed to guide
the ball home after Ratanbala found her from the
flanks.

Grace proved to be handful
for the Hong Kong defence
line and in the 10th minute
she sped past the opponent
defender from the right
wing, but managed to fluff
her shot close to the goal.
With India upping the
ante, Hong Kong soaked the
pressure and took time to
get into the groove of the
match.
Panthoi was forced to
make a couple of easy saves
to keep out the Hong Kong
attacks.The best chance of
the first half came just
before the half-time. Bala
Devi, beating her defender
in the first touch, controlled
a delicious cross. However,
her shot failed to match the
finesse and went over the
bar. The half-time scoreline
read 0-0.

Bauza fired as Argentina coach
BUENOS AIRES: Argentina’s football association
fired Edgardo Bauza as
coach of the crisis-hit national team as it struggles to
qualify for next year's World
Cup, the head of the body
said Monday.
It was the first big move
by the Argentine Football
Association (AFA) since it
last month picked new executives tasked with ending
three years of turmoil in the
Argentine game.
‘I told him that he is no
longer the coach of Argentina," the AFA's new presi-
dent Claudio Tapia told reporters after meeting with
Bauza at the association's
headquarters. The world
number two-ranked football
nation risks failing to qualify
for the World Cup for the
first time since 1970.
Star striker Lionel Messi
will miss the country's three
remaining
qualifying
matches due to suspension.
After a defeat to Bolivia
last month, Argentina
dropped to fifth place in the
regional table -- out of the
top-four automatic qualifying positions. (APF)

Kong defence, after the second half kicked-off. Two
back-to-back chances for
the 'Women in Blue' heaped
even more tension on the
Hong Kong defence.

from distance. A minute
later, Indumathi's effort was
kept out.

Neymar
banned for
Clasico
after
sarcastic
applause
MADRID: Barcelona star
Neymar will miss the Clasico
after receiving a three-match
ban following his red card
against Malaga, dealing a
big blow to the Catalans
who lie three points behind
Real Madrid having played
a game more than their rivals.
The Brazilian forward
was dismissed for two yellow cards against the Andalusians on Saturday, earning
an automatic one match
suspension, but his punishment was increased because
he sarcastically applauded
the fourth official as he
walked down the tunnel.
Referee Jesus Gil Manzano
noted the incident in his report.
The three-match suspension rules him out of the
game against Real Sociedad
on April 15, the Clasico
against Real Madrid on
April 23 and Barcelona's
home game against Osasuna
on April 26.
Neymar saw his first yellow card when he obstructed a Malaga free kick
by tying his laces in front of
the ball. The second came
for a foul on Roberto
Rosales.
It was the first red card
of Neymar's career at Barcelona and the team's first dismissal of the season in any
competition. (Reuters)
