An innovative and original program
for European engineers
Acquiring an international focus has always been a priority for the development
strategy at INSA Lyon.
Eurinsa, the most long-established of the international groups, is the European
section of the 1st cycle at the prestigious French engineering school, INSA. This two
year course prepares students to continue their studies in any of the engineering
departments at INSA or at other European universities via mobility agreements with
INSA Lyon.
Since its creation in 1991, Eurinsa alumni total a thousand engineers. Currently,
Eurinsa numbers two hundred students from around fifteen European countries.
The best european students prepared for the modern
world
Eurinsa provides the best European students with the opportunity to develop their
adaptability and innovation skills and to enhance their autonomy and open-mindedness through daily contact with different scientific and technical cultures and by
working in international teams in many contexts as non French students make up
50% of the EURINSA student population.
A broad international overview from the 1st cycle
Eurinsa prepares its student engineers to work in international teams by
providing first-hand experience and understanding of the multicultural
dimension of their future careers.
• 2 foreign languages are compulsory : English, French (for non-French
students), plus one other European language among German, Spanish,
Italian, Portuguese and Russian.
• Specific classes are given in Geopolitics, European law and Economics
• All students undertake an industrial work placement of 4 to 8 weeks at the
end of their first year in a European country.
• Lab work and mini-projects are organized in international teams.
Studying in Eurinsa
The two year foundation course is structured over four fifteen week semesters
(each semester represents approximately 400 to 500 hours of teaching).
Non-French students benefit from a six-week summer school prior to their first
year during which they will attend intensive French classes and review fundamentals in Mathematics. During the first year, foreign students take up to six hours
of French classes per week depending on their level. All courses in Eurinsa are
taught in French.
After Eurinsa
On successful completion of the two-year Eurinsa program, students enter one of
the forty-four engineering departments of the 6 INSA network for a further three
years of study which are required to obtain an engineering degree. Students may
also study at the engineering faculties of other European universities via mobility
agreements with INSA, Lyon.
Choosing Eurinsa means:
• gaining a broad international overview

• studying a second foreign language in addition to English
• a cquiring an excellent scientific background while learning about different cultural approaches and working methods
• (for non-French students), carrying out an industrial placement in France at the
end of the first year
