Battlefords Immigration Resource Centre is forever
grateful to everyone, for supporting the community’s
event “A Taste of Culture 2015” held from 28th to 30th of May, 2015. We are pleased to
inform you that we drew in a “record breaking number of participants”, 5,163 this year
from the community and surrounding areas! Stage design was great and colorful, which
represented the richness and unity in diversity of the different ethnic cultures in our
community! Everyone enjoyed a “taste” of the different cultures provided by 17 food and
refreshment vendors who prepared Canadian, Chinese, Dutch, Filipino, Indian, Italian/
French, Korean, Metis, Ruthenian, Soul, South African, Thai & Ukrainian delicacies.
Great and promising talents (singers, dancers, bands and musicians) who originated from
all parts of the world, performed a variety of entertainment from country to classic or cultural to contemporary and modern, which made everyone, from all ages and cultures happy!
Young families, especially children, had great time and fun with the artistry and creativity
of the market place vendors! Children from different schools showcased their talents
as they developed, through their artworks, the theme of this year’s event “Unity in diversity.” Camaraderie was great! Western Development Museum staff and numerous
volunteers provided everybody a hospitable welcome and great experience! Generosity
and active participation of our sponsors – master chef, top chefs and sous chefs were
overwhelming!
The huge success of “our” event would not have been realized without
your support! Kudos to everyone! Thus, we look forward seeing you again next
year! To those of you who are gifted with different talents from cooking, entertainment to showcasing your creative skills, we invite you to take part in next year’s
“A Taste of Culture 2016.” See you there!
