Susan B. Anthony Project SAFETY • HEALING • GROWTH 2007–2008 ANNUAL REPORT Executive Director’s Message Last year was a very busy productive time at Susan B. Anthony Project. Thanks to our dedicated staff, board of directors, volunteers, and community partners, we have remained strong and have continued to focus on meeting our clients’ needs. In June, the Board of Directors adopted a new Long Range Plan. Staying true to our mission, the Board clearly stated its priorities which include delivering comprehensive quality services; becoming a center of excellence for transitional services; and serving as a catalyst in shaping a community intolerant of interpersonal violence. The Plan also addresses staffing, financial strength and stability, and the organization’s responsiveness to change in demographics, political, economic and social climate and developments in technology. This Plan will guide the work of Susan B. Anthony Project for the next several years. During the last year, we expanded our transitional living program when we were awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women. This program helps survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking to secure permanent housing and begin to gain economic stability. We have now completed our second year in partnership the Department of Children and Families where Susan B. Anthony Project staff members consult with child protection workers on cases that involve domestic violence. Sadly, the demand for our services continues. Our staff is ready to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Everyday, we help people on the crisis line, in court, in our shelter, in our transitional house, in counseling sessions and support groups, and in classrooms. Wherever and whenever survivors need help, we are there. This would not be possible without the support of our community. I thank you for being a part of Susan B. Anthony Project’s success. Serving the towns of: Barkhamsted, Canaan, Colebrook, Cornwall, Goshen, Hartland, Harwinton, Kent, Litchfield, Morris, New Hartford, Norfolk, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon, Thomaston, Torrington, Warren, Washington, Winsted. Barbara Spiegel, Executive Director MISSION STATEMENT ~ Susan B.
