POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Project Coordinator, 12-month regular appointment, three-quarters to full-time,
located in Seaton Hall, Manhattan, KS. This position will make decisions regarding
the oversight of the professional development program, including developing,
coordinating and assessing program events, tracking student attendance, and
implementing and managing the mentorship program by exercising judgment
related to accepting mentors from industry and students into the program and
matching students with professionals. This position is also responsible for assisting
the Director of Academic Services with activities, and functions supporting the
program for approximately 800 students as well as nearly 100 faculty and staff and
interacting with alumni and industry professionals. The ideal candidate will
demonstrate a willingness to develop the program and promote the college and
enjoy interacting with a variety of people.
Core Duties:
Coordinate Mentorship Program:
• Implement Professional Mentor program, including recruiting students and
design professionals to program.
• Collect, review and approve student and professional applications to the
program.
• Promote program to APDesign students via individual and group
presentations, email, brochures and campus publicity.
• Manage and monitor matching process.
• Conduct regular Professional Mentor program orientation sessions for
students.
• Maintain regular communication with students and mentors. Create and
send monthly e-newsletter to mentors and students.
• Oversee student-mentor relationships; manage student and mentor
expectations; mediate interpersonal issues; monitor any legal issues.
Perform administrative tasks:
• Maintain an effective web site and program database.
• Create a Professional Mentor advisory board, for feedback and advice on the
future direction of the program. Arrange annual meeting.
• Oversee the APDPro Student Advisory Council for feedback and advice for
the programming portion of APDPro.
• Create a Professional Development program committee to oversee program
direction, communicate with faculty and staff regarding the program and
encourage appropriate faculty and staff participation.
• Track students through program.

Develop a yearly assessment of the program and create new strategies and
projects on data and feedback.
Communicate and Collaborate with Internal Constituencies
• Effectively collaborate with College and University faculty and staff with
respect to program recruitment and promotion.
• Work with departments, Student Services and Comm. and Events
Coordinator to ensure that APDPro activities are coordinated with other
student activities.
• Work with Director of Development and Dean to coordinate professional
mentor recruitment and professional development workshops led by alumni
and friends of the college.
• Promote program activities to APDesign Students
• Develop strategy for promotion of program workshops and activities that
target appropriate students populations within the College.
• Prepare and organize program materials
• Work with Communication and Events staff to develop program materials
• Communicate with students regularly for clear, concise transfer of
information in a timely and effective manner.
Position Requirements:
• Prior demonstrated experience in coordinating projects and performing
administrative tasks.
• Bachelor’s degree in any field.
