[email protected] OR 507.995.1834 Crescendo WCPA Welcomes New Teachers FALL 2015 STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Analisa Koenig has joined our school as a violin instructor! Analisa is replacing Lauri Koenig (her sister) as Laurie is getting married and moving away to new adventures. Analisa has many years of teaching and performing experience and we are glad to have her join our team! Caitlin Brutger will be giving piano instruction for us, bringing passion (and lots of smiles) to her lessons! She was a student of Dr. Wirth many years ago and is now back in the area building her own studio. We love to see our past students become teachers of their own! Emily Schmidt is a lady of many skills! She will be offering lessons on voice, guitar, ukulele, AND piano! She will also offer combo lessons, so if you want to play piano, guitar, or ukulele while singing, Emily is the teacher for you! d A stunning "Congratulations!!" Goes to WCPA graduate Reed Tetzloff, who was one of the top 12 pianists at the prestigious Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow this past June. Pursuantly, he returned to Minnesota and thrilled us all at the WCPA Young Artist World Piano Festival with an appearance and talk about his experience. Thank you, Reed for carrying our banner throughout the world!! Reed is currently working toward his masters degree at the Mannes New School of Music in New York City with renowned pianist and teacher Pavlina Dokovska. d Another big "Kudo" goes to another WCPA graduate Leo Wexler-Mann, who was awarded a staff accompanist position at the Juilliard school in New York City. Leo, who received his BM in Piano Performance from the Juilliard this past spring, will now be using his collaborative skills to enhance the performance of others at this most famous of music schools! d We are also so very proud of yet another WCPA alum Colton Peltier, who has just begun his masters degree in piano performance at the Juilliard school. Four years ago, Colton and Leo represented a full 1/6th of the total matriculating class of freshman Juilliard pianists!! d A huge "Congratulations" and "Bravissimo!!" goes to WCPA student Aaron Fagerstrom, who performed the first movement of Schumann's Piano Concerto in A Minor with the Festival Orchestra this past July, having won the concerto competition at the Young Artist World Piano Festival in July. d “Way to go!!” goes to 8 year old pianist Eliana Szabo, a finalist at the Young Artist World Piano Festival concerto competition, and performer in the Honors Recital there, who performed also at the beautiful home of Tom Schmitt on the St. Croix River in August. Eliana received a standing ovation from the audience of mostly professional musicians. WOW!! d A big “Bravo!” goes to pianist Joseph Caswell (11 years old) who represented the WCPA as he performed so beautifully at the St. Cloud State Convocation on September 25th. His 50 minute CONTINUED ON PAGE 3 We are glad to welcome these three talented young ladies to our teaching family! They have many spots open in their studios and they look forward to sharing their love of music with new students. Remember, ANYTIME is a good time to add music to your life! We have students of all ages starting lessons every month throughout the year, so you don't have to wait until the beginning of a semester. Joseph and fellow colleague Daniel Yang (age 12) will both be performing in the Music Teachers National Association Piano Competition this coming November. All best to them both to play their “expressive best!” d A big Kansas debut “Bravissimo!” goes to WCPA alum Johnny Mattson, who is majoring in piano performance at the University of Kansas School of Music, and just performed Beethoven’s “Appassionata Sonata” to an audience of 400 people. All best to Johnny as he starts his education there this fall with the highly acclaimed teacher Dr. Jack Winerock. d Showcasing our 2 Larson Award winner, the fabulous flautist Toni Lyn Andres, first prize winner of both the Thursday Musical Senior High Woodwind Competition AND the 2014 Senior High Schubert Club Competition. Now studying at the acclaimed Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, this young artist is sure to knock your socks off with her virtuosity, musicality, and verve as she returns to Minnesota just prior to Thanksgiving – giving us SO much to be thankful for! A huge “Welcome to the WCPA Community!” goes to new students Jacquie Pham, Calvin and Ethan He, Anna Kerstetter, Anna McGlone, T. J. Stang, Andy Storkamp, (Tanya - can you get all the new student names from Laura? - I think they would love to see themselves listed!!! Thanks!!) who enrolled for the first time at the WCPA this fall!
